He is mentally unwell and has been for a while. Even if what he says is true, he needs help, not a news article covering every unhinged thing he says online.

[–] neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works 72 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

He's a billionaire, he's got help, and he's had help, he doesn't want any of it.

Fuck him. I'm tired of people making excuses for this Nazi piece of trash as if he was worth saving. There's billions of other people more deserving of help than him.

[–] mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, the sad reality is that creatives often refuse to take their meds. They enjoy the creativity that goes along with their mania, and they feel like the meds kill their creative spark. I can almost guarantee he has been medicated in the past, but now refuses to take any meds because he enjoys being manic.

And being manic isn’t simply being happy and elated… It’s in the same category as schizophrenia, because it causes delusions and breaks with reality. And good luck reasoning with someone when they’re delusional; You can’t reason people out of a mindset that they didn’t reason themselves into.

The dude needs serious help, but he’s still a shit-licking Nazi. His decision to refuse meds is an active choice that he makes every day, and conflating his mental illness with naziism is an insult to everyone who does take their meds and is a well-adjusted member of society.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

He's been medicated in the past. That being said, I know it's a common belief that mental health medication and coping can make someone no longer creative, this is not based on real things. No one does what they want to do well while they are struggling with mental health problems. Medication doesn't strip people of their skills and abilities. Every creative person will struggle with ''writers block'' ''art block'' whatever you want to call it. There's real ways to get past it, and everyone deals with internal and external pressure in creative fields, like Pete Doctor talking about having a huge crisis of faith in his own work to the point he was sure Pixar was soon to fire him when he's easily more original and productive than any other major name writer/director/animator they've had. Everyone goes through this. But when you real look at a ''troubled artists'' you see the mental health problems got in the way of them being creative not the other way around. Van Gogh was MONTHS away from being a world renowned artist when he committed suicide. Why did he do it? Well I can't say exactly, but he was a man who spend years in mental hospitals, and couldn't paint while in there, maybe he could somewhat, but not like he wanted to. He produced an average of one painting a day for two years straight when he was out of the hospital. He was out because his symptoms were under control and he was free to leave. Not because he was struggling with mental health. And when his symptom were getting worse again after the two years he painted clearly 10+ hours a day, he very likely didn't want to go back to the hospital for who knows how many years? If being unhealthy made him an artistic genius all his famous work wouldn't have come while he was out of the hospital having few symptoms, he wouldn't have been painting when he was well, he would have gotten a job as a mailman or something. No healthy meant he could focus and work. Unhealthy meant he couldn't.

Man, it'd be a shame if anyone actually cared. Too bad he's an actual Nazi though, so fuck him.

I literally lack enough empathy to feel sorry for him now. He needs to go away

[–] match@pawb.social 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

is the nazism part of the mental illness though? i can't imagine how but i can't rule out it either, it's reminiscent of a paranoid schizophrenia delusion

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah it can be. But it's one of those situations where he probably needs a lot of therapy and time to come to terms with it all.

[–] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 9 points 2 days ago

He's significantly less Nazi when he's on his meds, so it's likely.

[–] BreadAndThread@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Yep. Fuck this guy. There's a limit to sympathy and tolerance because eventually, those become apathy, and now you're just another bystander letting bad shit happen.

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

No, you see, Kanye West said [bad thing] and is now intelligible for basic empathy.

Inb4 "Mental illness doesn't ___!!"

Yes it does. And I'm very envious of whoever thinks this that their experience with severe, debilitating mental illness has been so light.

[–] Prandom_returns@lemm.ee 14 points 3 days ago

So many MDs around here!

K.West is a nazi, and deserves no respect or empathy.

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Wendy William’s bank has her in a conservatorship.

How does anyone see what he did to his house and think, that man is able to take care of himself?

I’ve heard that some of it is probably NO2 abuse under the care of one of his doctors. I think he started going off the rails after his mother died.

[–] the_wise_wolf@feddit.org 57 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Being rich and mentally ill is a terrible combination. Nobody has the power to step in. And after a while they are surrounded by scharlatans.

Here is a video about how the people around Kanye are killing him (24 min): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kTEuuXjVc8k

[–] blackstampede@sh.itjust.works 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's "charlatans", but hard agree.

For a minute, I had no idea why you were posting a picture of Sean Connery. Then I went back and read that in his voice, and it all made sense.

[–] AnarchistArtificer@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 days ago

I'm increasingly convinced that being rich in general seems to be toxic for the soul. I went to a university that tends to draw a lot of rich and influential people, and I have a striking memory of talking to a posh girl at a party once. She was deeply lonely, and lamented that all of the people in her "social class" were assholes, but they also felt like the only safe people to be close to, because everyone else were suckups and sycophants. I got the sense that she was someone super important, but that the conversation was only happening because I had no idea who she was (I wouldn't be surprised if she was a princess or something).

I'm also reminded of an article by Abigail Disney a while back, that explained how the rich are taught from a young age that they must protect their dynastic wealth. It's quite a tragic thought to me, as someone who grew up in poverty, that even the rich seem to live their lives subordinate to money.

[–] d00ery@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

Sycophants is the fancy word for yes men. I heard some of the people around Kanye are actively exploiting him.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 26 points 3 days ago

Kanye heard “Not Like Us” and wanted a spot on the track.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 29 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Dud is so mentally ill, and no one is ever going to help him. He could post that he "likes to jack off with ants crawling all over his body" and no one would bat an eye. Get this annoying messed up bitch some help already, it's tiring!

[–] imsufferableninja@sh.itjust.works 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wait, what's wrong with antjacking?

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 6 points 2 days ago

Getting consent from all those ants is a long and complicated process.

You’ll take my reverse ant bukkake over my cold dead jizz and ant coated body

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 29 points 3 days ago (2 children)

It's really unclear if he means he molested his cousin when his cousin was ages 6-14 or if he began molesting his 6 year old cousin then stopped when he himself turned 14.

[–] 3dmvr@lemm.ee 11 points 3 days ago

uh its implied they were a similar age and he stopped at 14 I dont think it was molesting rather he introduced it, then he wanted to stop years later and his cousin didnt

[–] The2b@lemmy.vg 4 points 3 days ago

It seems pretty clear he meant the latter

[–] Geetnerd@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

The event itself is trivial, shit like that happens all the time, especially at that age. These incidents don't define your sexuality. I don't care if it did, but a ton of dumbass chuds think it does.

The fact that he would broadcast it is not.

This guy needs help. Is there no one who can step in?

Edit: I just skimmed the headline, and didn't realize that it went on for years. I thought it was just a one time consensual thing. I apologize, and that kind abuse is terrible. A childhood friend of mine went through that with an uncle.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The event itself is trivial, shit like that happens all the time, especially at that age.

He started at 6 and quite at 14...

What kind of childhood did you have where that's "normal"?

Or did you just not know what you were talking about about before typing that?

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Actually, it says he started when his cousin was 6, and ended when Kanye was 14. Either they have a big age difference or they don't and this went on for a long time. Either way, i agree, this is not normal.

Edit: for clarity, young children "playing doctor" on occasion is entirely normal. Young children mimicing sex acts that they have seen can be more concerning, but can be innocent exploration for kids who don't know any better and ultimately be fine. But young kids continuing to do these things periodically or increasing in experimentation over years is not healthy developmental behavior. And a significantly older kid, especially one who is old enough and understands what these acts are, performing sex acts on a younger child is extremely concerning. A) it often correlates with having their own sexual abuse history by an older person, B) it correlates with an unhealthy sexual development and inclination toward pedophilia, C) it can completely shred ones mental health as they struggle to cope with the trauma as they grow to understand that they were abused, and D) it propagates those things onto the younger person in turn.

[–] pohart@programming.dev 2 points 3 days ago

There really isn't anyone who can step in when the ultra wealthy are fucking up. It's hard enough for us poors with no power anyway, but Ye has enough money that he can do what he wants.

If he wants help he can afford it, but of he doesn't there's no rock bottom for him.

[–] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

These incidents don't define your sexuality. I don't care if it did, but a ton of dumbass chuds think it does.

Or rephrased,

these things don't happen, but if it did I don't care and you're dumbass for it.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 3 days ago

Why does his tweet almost read like he's trying to blame the magazines?

[–] Retreaux@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Holy shit the actual tweet was fucking unhinged and I don't usually follow all of the Ye Trainwreck happenings. Damn that was a crazy read.

[–] FancyLad@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago (2 children)

So he's a gay, incestuous fish?

[–] bane_killgrind@slrpnk.net 9 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I am really wondering if he'd ever said anything before that tipped off Trey and Matt

[–] EisFrei@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

IIRC they had the fish dicks joke first and then thought about who might have the best/worst reaction to it.

[–] egrets@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And then he fucks a fish.

Thanks for this. 🤣

[–] pdxfed@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Those dudes have radar like NASA used to and all he wants to do is talk and get attention. I imagine it was like figuring out who the quarterback was dating at a high school house party for them.

[–] timewarp@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Seriously?!? You can hate people for who they are now, but to make statements like this is an attack on anyone who has experienced sexual abuse or trauma at an age where they themselves lacked the decision making faculties we'd expect from adults. It doesn't mean they are gay, or that they even really consented in a way where they felt in control. I really hate to see people act like this, especially those that have no idea what it is like to become sexualized at such a young age... usually triggered by an adult who started abusing a child.

[–] FreeAZ@sopuli.xyz 9 points 3 days ago

Dude, the "gay fish" part was an old joke from South Park that had specifically targeted Kanye at the time. He added the incestuous part because of what happened. He wasn't implying molestation victims are gay.

[–] TheKMAP@lemmynsfw.com 9 points 3 days ago

Hey look, another person got blackmailed into fascism. Surely a coincidence

[–] badbrainstorm@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Goretantath@lemm.ee 2 points 14 hours ago

Southpark was right huh?

[–] dumbass@leminal.space 7 points 3 days ago

Could someone with talent take that Kanye cousin song and mash it up with Sweet Home Alabama? I'll be your friend!

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

So he claims him and his cousin watched porn and blew eachother from the time they were six till Kanye was 14 (unspecified amount of years if I read correctly) and that the ending of that relationship lead to his cousin killing a pregnant woman and going to jail? Like this is supremely fucked up if true. Now I’m gonna go look up the lyrics to cousins.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 1 points 3 days ago

Oh. The lyrics are literally just about him watching porn with his cousin and blowing him. What the fuck is going on.
