badposting is a comm where you post badly

This is not a !the_dunk_tank@hexbear.net alternative. This is not a !memes@hexbear.net alternative. This is a place for you to post your bad posts.

Ever had a really shitty bit idea? Joke you want to take way past the point of where it was funny? Want to feel like a stand-up comedy guy who's been bombing a set for the past 30 minutes straight and at this point is just saying shit to see if people react to it? Really bad pun? A homemade cringe concoction? A cognitohazard that you have birthed into this world and have an urge to spread like chain mail?

Rules:

  1. Do not post good posts.
    • Unauthorized goodposting is to be punished in the manner of commenting the phrase "GOOD post" followed by an emoji that has not yet been used in the thread
    • Use an emoticon/kaomoji/rule-three-abiding ASCII art if the rations run out
  2. This is not a comm where you direct people to other people's bad posts. This is a comm where you post badly.
  3. This rule intentionally left blank.
  4. If you're struck for rule 3, skill issue, not allowed to complain about it.

Code of Conduct applies just as much here as it does everywhere else. Technically, CoC violations are bad posts. On the other hand: L + ratio + get ~~better~~ worse material bozo

Okay, long story short: I know how hard-left this sub is, and I'm pretty much to the left myself. I can't stand crooked law enforcement. I fiercely support Black Lives, and I think we need reform badly.

But I happen to enjoy some movies/shows/games that have police characters.

And I'm getting beyond fed up with seeing a certain movie (Zootopia) that impacted me so much get attacked from the left in this manner. Basically, I don't agree with how some in the hard left keep holding it up as "cop propaganda" or "fascist", which it isn't, and people accusing it of "getting racial allegories wrong" when in reality, the movie is an allegory for prejudice as a whole.

Like, I don't find crap like this funny. I find it infuriating. Because it's not true. https://i.redd.it/0qy9v4on7gs31.jpg Some hard leftists accuse the film of missing the mark because the "predators" evolved from eating prey mammals to eating fish and bugs. That's not meant to symbolize anything in real life, it's just something that happened with those animals in a kids' movie. It doesn't clash with the movie's messaging at all. It's not "police apologism" because the police department is depicted as inept in many ways, and the story contains a moral against unfair profiling. Now for some reason, the “NP” link option isn’t working, but I discussed this before in BreadTube and CompleteAnarchy. I’m asking you how you feel about this because I once encountered a thread in this sub mocking Judy Hopps, doing the whole “ACAB” thing, and I was legit upset by it. If you think I’m some kind of idiot, weirdo or loser for getting so emotional about a game aimed at gamers that’s part of a company that’s your right. But people have been sharing “ Judy's’s a pig, smash the state” memes in the Zootopia sub. And as someone who can’t watch certain scenes in the movie without crying my eyes out, they really bothered me and I didn’t think they were fair at all.

I can't stand crooked law enforcement.

I know this is a copypasta, but that line is just such a perfect incapsulation of libs lol.
As opposed to what? Stanning crooked law enforcement?

[–] CliffordBigRedDog@hexbear.net 14 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (3 children)

i only stan crooked law enforcement because Denzel looked really cool in that one movie

‘I can’t stand law enforcement that is crooked’, or ‘I can’t stand law enforcement because they’re crooked’?

[–] alexei_1917@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago

I believe in both. I think that law enforcement that isn't crooked is possible, but capitalist systems inherently preclude it, and in pretty much every jurisdiction on Turtle Island for sure, and probably the rest of the Western world, reform isn't a solution and it would be necessary to tear the whole system down and start over.

But left-liberals who at least believe in both of these statements and seek reforms that would curb the worst of the system's failures, do exist and are a definite improvement over your average liberal who just believes the first one and doesn't understand at all why so many cops are crooked.

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 5 points 4 days ago

The first one, they're libs after all. If it were to be the second one, then they'd say it using way more words because leftism meem

I think this is the "guy in /r/cth who really wanted to fuck Judy Hopps" copypasta. Those were simpler times.

The only cop I'd rather boop than punch in the nose. Lol.

(Same for K-9s and station/precinct cats, tbh. They're generally victims of state abuse, not bastards like human cops are.)

[–] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

See this sort of copypasta always works best when it's written like the layers of an onion: peeling back the layers one by one to gradually reveal the writer's true motives, before building itself back up into an equally ridiculous defense of those true motives. As it stands, unfortunately, this copypasta — though it has its moments — is only the pretense, the façade, the tatemae: it has no clear "crack in the mask" moment, certainly no "burst of the dam" moment, it's setup without a punchline. Which means it's a B rate copypasta at best.

[–] Sphere@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The guy didn't actually want to fuck the bunny cop, that's why it's not as good as you want it to be. This is actually only the main post the guy made, he went on to crash out in multiple additional threads about it. By the end people were unironically telling him that it was a joke and he should leave because the whole thing was clearly causing him a lot of emotional distress, but it didn't really seem to take.

[–] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I am aware that it's a verbatim comment by a real person, I'm just saying that if you're going to make it into a copypasta you might as well embellish it — it's already been divorced from its original author.

[–] Sphere@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

B-but that would be falsifying the lore!

But honestly I've always felt this bit was kinda mean-spirited, right from the jump, so in all seriousness, I kinda don't like the idea of retroactively vindicating the old sub for its frankly cruel irony-poisoned reaction to the original post.

[–] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 5 points 4 days ago

Yeah, that's fair. I guess I was thinking that if the bit is distanced from its original inspiration that that would make it feel less mean-spirited, but I can also see how doing that could end up having the opposite effect in practice.

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Especially given how aggressively critical the movie is of law enforcement, and bigotry in general.

[–] Bob_Odenkirk@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The movie is anti-“bad cops” but also pro-cop. It opposes the hypothetical bad apples.

[–] RNAi@hexbear.net 10 points 4 days ago

Controlled opposition

[–] Mardoniush@hexbear.net 2 points 4 days ago

Yes though this is the end of the copypasta.

[–] tithonis@hexbear.net 2 points 4 days ago

Does the Zootopia abortion comic (and the sequel where JFK gets assassinated) predate this copypasta?

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 36 points 4 days ago (1 children)

In Zootopia 2 there's a scene where she goes undercover as a momma wearing yoga pants and the makes her ass even bigger.

Or so I hear

[–] kleeon@hexbear.net 30 points 4 days ago (1 children)

oh my lord I have to watch this movie

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 20 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's one scene. I went with my sister and my nephew. Had to stop myself from doing the DiCaprio point

[–] juniper@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)
[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I looked for it for 5 minutes lol. It didn't show up when I typed in Leo for some reason

[–] juniper@hexbear.net 14 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Haha yeah I have the same problem with emotes too. I think we need to do a better job of adding keywords or improve the search

[–] kleeon@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

if you have Hexbear Premium you can use HexGPT to find emotes for you

[–] OffSeasonPrincess@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago

Hexgpt where is the kim wexler feet emote

[–] BanMeFromPosting@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It used to be a real pain. @WhyEssEff@hexbear.net has done wonders. Back in the day you could either go through the emoji picker or dedicate headRAM to memorize the name of ted kaszynskis emoji a-guy

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

I had a real hard time finding that one too. Though I love it's just "a guy".

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

Click the emoji button above the comment editing box (4th icon). It has a better search than the drop-down that pops up automatically.

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 28 points 4 days ago

Maybe it's cause I haven't seen the movie but I don't get why so many people wanna fuck the bunny cop specifically. She's cute, but like adorable cute. I'm not above going awooga at a cartoon character but with Judy Hopps I just don't see it.
