Remember when we were worried that TikTok was going to be used by the CCP to spread Chinese government propaganda?

Good news! It's STILL going to be used to spread propaganda, it just belongs to another group of billionaire dingbats, now.

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 5 points 20 hours ago

I'm encouraging everyone I know who still uses TikTok to leave it. Ditto for CBS / Paramount+

Back in the day this just meant that people would mobilize and flood the platform with pro Palestinian content just to troll.

[–] demonsword@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

nobody would know if it's all supressed

That's why quantity is important online. They can't suppress it all.

It just surprises me that people put more effort trying to get AI to quote Hitler than they do trying to fight for something like this.

Why is there this asymmetry of effort between the political factions.

[–] NutWrench@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

This is also why governments are pushing so hard for "AI." AI won't be used to improve the quality of our lives. It will be used for advertising, propaganda, surveillance and control. Only AI is fast enough to run all the bots and generate the blizzard of BS fast enough to counter the opinions of millions of people online.

[–] Melvin_Ferd@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

What about in the opposite direction. Isn't AI a tool that can be used to create, analyze and research. Which is why I think it's pushed very hard for the left to alienate themselves from it. It gives anyone who embraced it a big advantage.

Can we just all riot now? I just need a riot buddy?

[–] youare_acooldude@sh.itjust.works 61 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They already did.

A few years ago, Osama Bin Laden's open letter to the American people was being shared and people had their posts deleted.

It was being shared because the first reason he lists for attacking on 9/11 was America's support for Israel.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

He won. Every person employed by the TSA and every shoe removed is a posthumous W for crippling America

[–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago

Oh no! Genocidal maniacs have taken control over TikTok… again!

Anti-<topic> Billionaires Have Always Been Able to Control What People in General See.

[–] yeather@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The difference now is Chinese Billionaires were Anti and the new American Billionaires are Anti

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Which chinese billionaires are anti israel?

[–] yeather@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 day ago

https://time.com/6989299/china-israel-relations/

The Chinese state is souring against Israel, likely the operators of the app were also against Israel considering how they allowed anti-zionist content on the platform.

Isn't that the case with all major social media platforms?

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Aside from the fediverse one would hope

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

sigh one would, wouldn't they?

Ditch TrumpTok

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago

Seems like that was always the end goal. Imperialist global power built on colonialism continues to push forward neocolonialism, more at 11.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

dont you mean pro-zionist/ possibly antisemtic billionaires. antisemitism gives legitmacy to BIBIs regime.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago
