On Saturday in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, a pro-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and anti-Muslim hate rally organized by racist Jake Lang was abruptly aborted after Lang was swarmed by local residents and counterprotesters. The robust community response to the rally underscores the unpopularity of Trump’s “mass deportation” policies and attacks on immigrants.

Minneapolis, Minnesota folks have proven themselves on the world stage for dealing with the fascist felon and his cronies. I expect all other states have taken careful notes.

Meanwhile, racist fascist Jake Lang has earned the brainless and dubious distinction of an entry in the history books. Notably with the image of him gripped in fear as he's surrounded by Americans.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 30 points 2 days ago

You gotta love these fascists coming from a all over the country to your local community to tell you guys that your neighbors (or maybe even just you) are criminals even though they know jack shit about your community

This is all about spreading hatred and fear, like a disease, and all these Muppets have already been infected

The only real solution is to eradicate the disease

[–] bassgirl09@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I swear racists are some of the worst low-IQ people I have ever met. What did this guy think was going to happen?! This is how all hate-spreading racist and/or fascists should be treated. Good Job Minneapolis!!

Ha, not so big and tough are you?

People like Jake Lang, talk a tough game, but they're secretly pussies underneath.

[–] kata1yst@sh.itjust.works 22 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Don't besmirch the good name of pussies like that.

Yes, would not eat Jake Lang

Yeah. Pussies can at least take a hell of a pounding and enjoy it.

While most Minnesotans expressed joy at Lang’s aborted rally, fascists around the world fumed that police did not do a better job of protecting one of their own and lobbied for Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act, a threat he made last Thursday in response to community resistance to ICE kidnapping operations.

Here is the link of him on January 6th beating cops

So what I'm reading is outside agitator paid by "them" provokes peaceful protesters.

[–] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

Probably. Near the end of what I watched he’s repeatedly saying “deport the white liberal women” which.. idk how else you can take that but as trying to start shit, since it doesn’t really fit the bigotry message very well.. sexism for sure, but it just doesn’t sound like a normal thing for a nazi to say. I mean this is the first I’ve heard that one, yet the people around him thought nothing of it.. very sus.

I was sitting here, having a sip of soup, and when I looked up at my screen, the first thing I saw:

... racist Jake Lang was abruptly aborted ...

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 days ago

Jake Lang is a Mossad agent attempting to steer neo-Nazi hate groups towards anti-Muslim sentiment.

imo, he got off extremely easy in this situation.

Just one? It's a start.

As a none-native speaker, please help me parse this article:

a pro-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and anti-Muslim hate rally organized by racist Jake Lang

A racist organized a rally that is

  • pro-immigration
  • (anti?) ICE
  • anti-Muslim hate (so essentially pro-Muslim?)

Why? I'd expect him to do the opposite.

Prior to the event, Lang promised he would burn a Quran on the steps of Minneapolis City Hall,

That sounds distinctly not anti-Muslim hate. So is it a [anti-Muslim] [hate rally]? Then I am not sure why it'd be pro-immigration at the same time?!

[–] Larry13@piefed.social 26 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Pro-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement),

Anti-muslim,

hate-rally.

I can see the potential ambiguity for a non-native speaker with the articles phrasing.

[–] einkorn@feddit.org 11 points 2 days ago

Now that you mention it ... of course! Thanks!

[–] kata1yst@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's saying the rally was in favor of ICE and opposed to immigration and Muslims.

[–] einkorn@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, but then why does it say "pro-immigration"? To be a proponent of something means supporting it. And those people hardly support people immigrating to their country.

[–] kata1yst@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

It is poorly phrased.

a pro-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and anti-Muslim hate rally organized by racist Jake Lang

ICE is short for "Immigration and Customs Enforcement".

The next part is even phrased worse.

Anti-Muslim hate-rally would be a better phrasing, but "hate rally" is a weird phrase already. A good editor would have dropped "hate" from the phrase entirely.

So, rephrased: "a pro-ICE and Anti-Muslim rally"

[–] PoastRotato@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The "immigration" in there belongs to "Immigration and Customs Enforcement", which is the full name of ICE. So it's saying that he's pro-ICE, or pro-[Immigration and Customs Enforcement]. The hyphen is a bit confusing there.

[–] Hawke@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

“Immigration and Customs Enforcement” —abbreviated as “ICE” — is the organization that he supports. He’s not in favor of immigration, he’s in favor of the organization that traditionally enforces immigration laws, in other words anti-immigration.

Also worth noting that this organization’s mission has been skewed from simply enforcing the laws into “kidnapping people with tan skin or or who have an accent” and generally being a modern version of the Nazi “brownshirts”. So that is what he is supporting.

[–] BCOVertigo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Your error was just parsing him as pro "I." when he is actually pro "I.C.E."

He is in favor of immigration enforcement, not immigrants.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip -1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)
  1. Pro-immigration and Pro-ICE
  2. Anti-Muslim. Burning their Quran is definitely part of that.
  3. He’s a racist.
  4. Pro-immigration, Pro-ICE, racism, Anti-Muslim are all from the same mindset that drives all right wingers in the US.

EDIT: The distinction here is that Pro-immigration translates to “Pro-deportation” in right wing colloquial expression.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Anti-immigration.
Pro-ICE.
Anti-Muslim.

So just a general piece of shit.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

You’ve described conservatives perfectly.

I hope I’m not the only one that resists throwing up in my mouth when one speaks.

[–] einkorn@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Pro-immigration [...] drives all right wingers in the US.

I am not sure, I fully understand. Because being a proponent of something means you support it. So pro-immigration people are in favor of others immigrating to their country, and that's certainly not what the fascist want? They want immigrants, illegals, aliens (whatever they call them) out of the country so they are anti-immigration.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes I think Jumbie mistyped, "anti-immigration" is correct for the right-wingers, or as I call them the Wrong Wing.

The only way they could be called "pro-Immigration" is if you're using "Immigration" as a short name for ICE and US Border Patrol and Dept of Homeland Security together in general. As we in Los Angeles sometimes call them "la migra". Because although they have different jurisdictions, undocumented people have to run/hide from all of them.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

This is correct and also (as I tried to clarify above) interchangeable with the rightwingers wanting to deport all non-whites.

I apologize for the mistake.

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

I specified above (I should have initially).

To a US rightinger scumbag, immigration is interchangeable with deportation of the browns.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Good, I was just starting to run low on asparagus piss

Good to know the WSWS isn't against violence on principle, just who it should be directed at.

I hope once the Socialist Equality Party finally gets a foothold on political power in the US they can make further progress by running their opponents out of town.

We will only be truly free when our ideas are free from interference by others.
