Autos trade group Mobility Sweden said new vehicle registrations of Tesla models were down 80.7% in April amid a backlash against the political activity of CEO Elon Musk.

Tesla registrations were 203 in April, down from 1,052 a year before.

It was one of the worst-performing automakers for the month in the Nordic country, and sat in contrast to an overall 11% rise in new passenger vehicle registrations to 24,292.

Polestar Automotive, a Swedish electric automaker and one of Tesla's competitors, saw its sales hit 535 in April, an 11.5% increase.

Yet the stock has jumped like 50% while every single indicator is red.

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 12 points 14 hours ago

I can't believe it will last. Bubble has to pop. International sales in the toilet, Cybertruck failing, domestic sales down, supply chains in shock from tariff chaos, and on top of it all, it's PE ratio makes no sense compared to all other manufacturers.

The entire stock price is based on nothing but Elon Musk and the world is starting to look at him as an idiot.

Some people tend to double down when they notice that they have lost a high percentage

I hope this evil apartheid Nazi welfare queen gets a lube free dildo of karma everyday for the rest of his life

[–] FantasmaNaCasca@slrpnk.net 6 points 11 hours ago

"The dildo of consequences rarely arrives lubed."

  • Robert Oppenheimer, 1945.

Or something like that.

[–] drhodl@lemmy.world 9 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

If by "dildo" you mean "cactus", then I am 100% with you!

[–] lazyViking@lemmy.world 5 points 14 hours ago

Or a pinapple

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 8 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Everything's a dildo if you're not a coward.

Yes, good point

Read "evil dildo" at first. Even that fits.

E. The fits was not intended, but suits here as well.

The story of Elon will be a phenomenal one. Icarus af. He could have ended world hunger and much more, but decided to become a nazi cunt and ruin everything. Money can't buy intelligence.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 39 points 1 day ago (8 children)

To become a billionaire you have to be a piece of shit human being. No billionaire is ever going to solve world anything, because again... They are trash human beings.

I have literally since they were released wanted a Tesla…right up until he decided to start this right wing bullshit.

I have for a few years now said if in 2015 he decided to become a recluse and just revel in his companies grandeur he might be the next Edison or maybe more accurately Ford. Possibly Hughes.

Now we are aware of how much of a petulant, unfunny child this dickhead is. He and his reputation is ruined.

while he was alive this was less known, pretty much his point. 🤡

[–] drhodl@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

I even bought LOL-GAS personalized plates, in anticipation of buying a Tesla, but that aint happening now. I still have the plates, though, so maybe one day they'll adorn a Chinese EV...

[–] AntelopeRoom@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago

I was going to buy a Tesla in 2021, the only reason I didn't was I needed a car immediately and they had a several month waiting list. If it had been available, I would've taken it. Even test drove one. Now, I will never buy a Tesla. I would rather have a Rivian anyway.

Yet tesla stock goes up. LOL.

How the fuck is the stock rising?

Oh. Wall Street is a joke. I forgot.

[–] Sneptaur@pawb.social 77 points 1 day ago (10 children)

Tesla stock is up because the board has quietly indicated that they are searching for someone to replace Musk

[–] meeeeetch@lemmy.world 75 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Will removing him as CEO really matter? As long as he's as heavily invested in the company as he is, its gains are his gains.

[–] PotatoLibre@feddit.it 39 points 1 day ago (6 children)

I dubt they can save the company anymore.

At this point, my grudge is with the entire board and any investors who didn’t sell their shares when they were over $400 and the CEO was tweeting hate speech and throwing Nazi salutes. Elon can walk away or stay, I don’t care. If you hold Tesla stock, you are either a Nazi or ok with Nazis. I will never pass a Tesla without spitting on it.

“Quietly indicated.” They intentionally leaked that story to bring up the stock price.

the entire stock market is a made up imaginary scam that all of our companies have forced us to care about by eliminating pension funds as a retirement avenue. i mean. the entire monetary system, but the stock market especially

Fucking about with the workers union also adds to the lack of trust and desire for the brand.

[–] chaosCruiser@futurology.today 36 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Yeah, I think the union thing and the latest nazi salute form exactly the kind of combination Sweden won’t forgive easily. Tesla’s reputation is completely gone.

Best fucking country, so proud.

[–] KyuubiNoKitsune@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I don't know what makes it the best to you, I personally hate it here and the people/society is pretty selfish and apathetic, so generally not healthy.

[–] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 3 points 16 hours ago

Apathetic in the large scale, but very warm and friendly at the smaller one.

I lived in the American South, I find this to be much more to my liking as the smiling faces seem less likely to be covering deep, hateful racism looking for an excuse to resort to violence.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago (14 children)

As a Scandinavian I too am proud of my brother Sweden. 👍😀
But you have to take it back about being "best", when you obviously are only 2nd best! 🇩🇰
