Tinder scanning my photo library, reading my diary and social media. Then it automatically generates perfect pictures and text for my dating profile. Then an AI bot looks at profiles for me and chats with other AI bots to set up dates. It then automatically adds a date to my calendar and makes a reservation in a restaurant. Nice.

no I'm good thanks i already put my nuts in there

So when my tinder AI meets and dates another person's AI, openAI will send me the bill for their AI wedding, then when the divorce comes, they'll sue for half of my real life stuff?

Neat.

taps_head.jpg can't scan my camera roll if I don't have one.

Every day I thank the Gods for having met my partner, and no longer needing to use dating apps is a huge part of it.

Anyway, does the word "enshittification" even make sense when the service was already shit to begin with? How do we even refer to a move like this? "Shittiness diversification"?

Passing the shit event horizon.

I know this is a hard concept to understand, but you can still meet other human beings without the use of a dating app.

You must be so much fun to hang out with IRL.

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 4 points 1 hour ago

Doubt they can read any better there.

Why would that person want to meet other people? They clearly stated that they're happily off the market.

Or are you just AI too? Either way, you didn't seem to understand the message.

Not to detract from graphene, but stock Android can let you manage what specific pictures each app has access to. I don't trust Meta with full access to my gallery, so anytime I have to upload something to Whatsapp, I have to specifically grant permission for that photo to Whatsapp.

[–] kinkles@sh.itjust.works 18 points 4 hours ago

Same on iOS too

[–] semperverus@lemmy.world 9 points 4 hours ago

Fun fact, that functionality literally came from GrapheneOS. Google onboarded it from Graphene.

Orrrrrr, you could, and hear me out.....NOT use products from argueably THE biggest invader of privacy of our times. You could just use another messanger.

I don't decide what I use for work. My employer does.

[–] Zombie@feddit.uk 1 points 22 minutes ago

Your employer owes you a phone if they want you to use software that they specify.

[–] WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social 2 points 2 hours ago

Your employer is allowed to tell you what apps you have on your personal phone?

Android and iOS also have guardrails around this. The OS asks for user consent and the user can grant no access or limited access.

Limited access, which is what you’ll want for a dating app that requires photo sharing, has been in iOS since 2020 (iOS 14). Android has been doing it since 2022 (Android 13).

Psh, I use GOS without Storage Scopes. I simply only take flattering photographs of my Adonis-like form (they're swiping left anyway, smh)

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 8 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

This is a horrible idea and everyone involved in its conception and implementation should be barred from working in technology ever again.

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 8 points 3 hours ago

Got it, promotions all around.

[–] jjlinux@lemmy.zip -4 points 2 hours ago

Lol, good. The user's of all 'mainstream' social networks, for dating or not, should be fine with that.
