pick photos and determine what they're into.

Why not do things the old fashioned way and just ask? Almost like a survey or something.

Tinder scanning my photo library, reading my diary and social media. Then it automatically generates perfect pictures and text for my dating profile. Then an AI bot looks at profiles for me and chats with other AI bots to set up dates. It then automatically adds a date to my calendar and makes a reservation in a restaurant. Nice.

Honestly, that sounds like a great experience.

It might actually lead to a relationship though, so there's no way Tinder will make it so easy.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 19 minutes ago

Oh yeah, it takes out all the humanity put of the dating experience, so that you can just focus on the transactional sex.

And all it costs you is ALL of your privacy

Burn it to the ground

Leads to my favorite punchline/rebuttal combo "do you need the robot to fuck your wife for you too?"

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 hours ago

no I'm good thanks i already put my nuts in there

So when my tinder AI meets and dates another person's AI, openAI will send me the bill for their AI wedding, then when the divorce comes, they'll sue for half of my real life stuff?

Neat.

Every day I thank the Gods for having met my partner, and no longer needing to use dating apps is a huge part of it.

Anyway, does the word "enshittification" even make sense when the service was already shit to begin with? How do we even refer to a move like this? "Shittiness diversification"?

[–] Brewchin@lemmy.world 2 points 50 minutes ago

Who'd have imagined that "jumping the enshittification" would be a thing.

[–] MalReynolds@slrpnk.net 7 points 4 hours ago

Passing the shit event horizon.

I know this is a hard concept to understand, but you can still meet other human beings without the use of a dating app.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 8 points 5 hours ago

Why would that person want to meet other people? They clearly stated that they're happily off the market.

Or are you just AI too? Either way, you didn't seem to understand the message.

You must be so much fun to hang out with IRL.

[–] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 5 points 4 hours ago

Doubt they can read any better there.

Not to detract from graphene, but stock Android can let you manage what specific pictures each app has access to. I don't trust Meta with full access to my gallery, so anytime I have to upload something to Whatsapp, I have to specifically grant permission for that photo to Whatsapp.

[–] kinkles@sh.itjust.works 21 points 7 hours ago

Same on iOS too

[–] semperverus@lemmy.world 12 points 7 hours ago

Fun fact, that functionality literally came from GrapheneOS. Google onboarded it from Graphene.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Orrrrrr, you could, and hear me out.....NOT use products from argueably THE biggest invader of privacy of our times. You could just use another messanger.

[–] officermike@lemmy.world 8 points 5 hours ago (3 children)

I don't decide what I use for work. My employer does.

[–] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 17 minutes ago

On your company phone.. right?

[–] Zombie@feddit.uk 4 points 3 hours ago

Your employer owes you a phone if they want you to use software that they specify.

[–] WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Your employer is allowed to tell you what apps you have on your personal phone?

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

I had a shit employer, I'm normally self-employed but I took a job one winter, they wanted me to download some app called Deputy to like spy on me 24/7. I never did.

Android and iOS also have guardrails around this. The OS asks for user consent and the user can grant no access or limited access.

Limited access, which is what you’ll want for a dating app that requires photo sharing, has been in iOS since 2020 (iOS 14). Android has been doing it since 2022 (Android 13).

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

Psh, I use GOS without Storage Scopes. I simply only take flattering photographs of my Adonis-like form (they're swiping left anyway, smh)

[–] Supervisor194@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

taps_head.jpg can't scan my camera roll if I don't have one.

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 11 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

This is a horrible idea and everyone involved in its conception and implementation should be barred from working in technology ever again.

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 10 points 6 hours ago

Got it, promotions all around.
