Watch the Arab states fund the war in Ukraine so the Ukrainians can buy military hardware and ammunition from Europe with their own money they earned from using their battlefield expertise to help their new allies protect themselves, and in doing so bypass Trump entirely.

It really can’t be overstated how much of a mistake this war is for the US.

It is also an enormous chance for Europe to establish strong ties in the middle east. Europe could profit massively from stability in the area. And obviously the same is true for the middle east. It remains to be seen whether European politicians are cunning enough to pull this of. It seems unlikely though.

A production rate of 2000 drone interceptors per day seems pretty good. It is quite incredible to see how fast Ukraine has innovated and set up production facilities when it comes to drones.

I’d argue that Ukraine has always been the brains of the former Soviet bloc, which is part of the reason Putin is so hellbent on getting it back.

Hmmm tough call, can I root for Ukraine and Iran at the same time?

[–] real_squids@sopuli.xyz 25 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This is not a sports game. Iran's drones, missiles, and shells have killed thousands of innocent people in Ukraine.

~~Root for everyone to have fun instead!~~
Root for loads of damage to any horrible regime of your choosing and it's people (higher-ups/enablers) instead!

Do not try to determine which countries are good, that is impossible.

Instead, try to realize the truth:

There are no good countries.

The state is the enemy

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I generally root for the people.

Theyre the ones that usually get the shaft...

Why would you even root for Iran? While they're a victim of US/Israel aggression, the government is still horrible. Remember the deadly protest just before the war begin? Remember few years ago they also beat a woman to death for protesting against mandatory headscarf?

[–] calmblue75@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is this the way we talk about world politics now? The government is bad, so we can look over the heinous act of violating their sovereignty?

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

No? And you think rooting for someone is a good way to talk about world politic? Instead of condemn the attack and hold the opinion that the attack are bad, while also hold the opinion a country being attacked is also horrible, we gonna just go A or B with zero nuanced take? Is that really what you want to do?

[–] calmblue75@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You were the one asking why root for Iran. You didn't ask why root for Ukraine, or any other western country. Why? Only Western governments are allowed to be bad?

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Did you missed the part where i say "Iran are a victim of US/Israel aggression" or are you purposefully ignore that part so your opinions of me won't fall apart? Do we have to list everything on the table before we start talking? Because i haven't seen yours, i can just say you support epstein, right?

Ohh and Ukraine did the right thing, Russia are the bad guy, deal with it.

[–] calmblue75@lemmy.ml -1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Ukraine did the right thing, Russia are the bad guy, deal with it.

How surprising that you are able to root for one side in this case.

[–] marcos@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because the US and Israel already picked their next target, and if they aren't stopped they will go for it again and again? Because the civilians are there, dying?

It sucks that the Iranian government is a piece of shit. That's not reason to root for them to be destroyed.

Eh, enlisting the help of one fascist regime to fight another one is only a temporary solution. Maybe it will save the day for Ukraine but it sure will come with alot of strings attached. So long as there is a powerful genocidal, fascist regime in another corner of the world, none of the weaker countries are really safe. We have seen many times that geographic seperation does not really help you much.

[–] compast@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

no one is surprised.
