Iran be like

A community for discussing events around the World
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Iran be like

Iran has more credibility than the orange pedophile
I would not at all go that far. Iran's regime is horrendous and they were murdering and abducting civilians by the thousands for the past year or two. They are just as in need of a propaganda win as fuckface.
Remember everyone: Just because one side is an asshole doesn't mean the other isn't one too.
All we can hope is that both sides take each other out, and the world is left without both regimes
Preposter said they have more credibility, not that they are less horrible. I feel that's an important distinction
Credibility is not morality.
precisely. a point often forgotten or overlooked.
I am aware of everything you said... yet Iran STILL has more credibility than the child rapist pressy
I am not, AT ALL, saying Iran is not an asshole, that's just your strawman
America’s regime is also horrendous.
Nobody said they weren't
Every side in this conflict sucks, but I'd still believe the officials in Iran over the officials in the US. The American government is very obviously and methodically lying to our faces every single day and without shame. I don't see a reason to assume the same for Iran, even if they are terrible people.
Fascist dictators lie.
Just because you like the lie you are hearing doesn't mean it is more likely to be true than not.
I am inclined to agree with the official Iranian line on this specific topic. But that has less to do with what Iran is saying and more to do with what I have gleamed from the OSINT community and third party news orgs.
Fascist dictators lie.
Just because you like the lie you are hearing doesn’t mean it is more likely to be true than not.
Which side are you talking about? Honestly, it needs clarification
Of course dictators lie. But yeah, looking at the situation at hand, Iran does not have much to gain from lying in a public statement that is not directed towards their own population. The US definitely does though, they do it all the time.
Iran doesn't have "much to gain" from insisting they defeated The Evil United States and that no matter what the US throws at them they won't give up the Strait?
The US is still, technically, the muscle of The Western World... at least right now. Saying that you withstood them (and all signs are that Iran has) is a HUGE "win" for a regime. Both in terms of making sure the people who were rebelling a few months back know they have no hope and nobody will come to save them but also to look strong in case any of the other superpowers want to back them up as a puppet regime.
And a LOT of the claims the Iranian regime have made have been rather suspect over the course of this war. A lot of it is "fair" murkiness when things were even more chaotic. But even their recent missile attack in the Indian Ocean is a mess of carefully leaked verbiage as each side decides whether they want to call it a failed attack or a warning shot. And I want to say the US/Israel started as the former before pivoting to the latter to try to convince Europe to join them.
Chaotic Evil versus Neutral Evil. Neutrals do have higher credibility than chaotic.
Doesn't change the fact that Irans fucking war propaganda is more credible than the tweets of the President of the United States of America.
As someone else mentioned Iran is morally reprehensible but they haven’t been found lying so often like Israel and US.
Trump really screwed any attempts to end this war when he started it by dropping bombs while in the middle of peace negotiations. What a fucking idiot. not that he had any credibility to begin with, but now he has negative credibility.
Plus... TACO
Can’t taco out of a situation you weren’t really in in the first place. Remember, this guy had so little credibility to start with, Oman was negotiating for him, lol.
What a fucking loser and literally incredible idiot
The markets reacting as if Trump's words are based in reality at all is astonishing.
Vibes based economy
ie algorithm based.
Maybe we could hand trump over to the IRGC for peace
First, I think Trump should send ICE to "secure" Kharg Island.
Now there's a peace negotiation tactic everyone can get behind.
Let's see how exactly Trump intends to chicken out of this one.
Spoiler: All he does is say whatever he wants reality to be, denies ever having said anything different, and expects everyone to go along with it. It's his sole tactic.
I’m just glad he didn’t end up bombing Iran again, thereby sending us back to the pre industrial era. I have little doubt that Iran would have fulfilled their threat against oil infrastructure.
US has been negotiating with Reza Pahlavi, is only explanation that would make both sides consistent.
Trump has criticized Reza. He wants a direct puppet
No need to try and figure out how to make both sides consistent when one side in particular is a habitual liar. (I'd argue Iran is more of a strategic liar - I don't trust them inherently, but at this point I trust them hands down over Trump…)
