Summary

Donald Trump mocked Elon Musk during a University of Alabama commencement speech, claiming Musk and other tech leaders who once opposed him are now "kissing my a--."

The jab came days after Musk reportedly exited the White House and refocused on Tesla.

Trump recalled Musk seeking help for "subsidized projects" and boasted about his past leverage over him.

The two, once rivals, had grown close but showed signs of tension. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles said Musk remains involved, though no longer physically present.

It does not matter to Musk. He got all the personal and sensitive information he needs to train AI for his new company.

I feel like Musk wants the world to end and be Mr House from Fallout. If that happens, I wish I could be Ghoul and take revenge on him.

And we know Musk did not leave his new power trip. It is a sad unbelievable claim.

“When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless...

Seems like that should be a fine place to save some money then. Trump is basically admitting here that we are cutting school lunches, medicaid, and poverty programs while at the same time we are spending billions supporting failing businesses just so Musk can keep getting richer.

Worth pointing out that quote is from 2022, before Elon spent a quarter billion dollars to get Trump elected. The new quote referenced in the article is actually tame as fuck and hardly worth writing about:

“If you look at some of these internet people, I know so many of them. Elon is so terrific, but I know now all of them, you know, they all hated me in my first term, and now they’re kissing my ass. You know... it’s true. All of them. It’s true.”

No, Trump will be petty towards Musk, then send taxpayers' money to him anyway, because Trump is a two-faced piece of shit and a coward.

I had to check to see and that's actually a Trump quote. You're right about the admission, though it's hard to even take note of it in the sea of madness we're all capsized in. But at least love to see the inevitable end for anyone deluded enough to ally themselves with Trump.

There so much to unpack in Trump World.

He "hires the best people" and then talks about how stupid they are.

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago

That's because stupid people hired the best person for the job of President.

[–] podperson@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago

I think it’s this:

“I just hired the best person to do something”

Scenario A: this person did a bigly good job at it. Something was my idea and I get all the credit.

Scenario B: this person did a massively horrible job at the something. Something failed because of this person and I’m awesome so I’m asking them to leave.

In both cases, the something usually turns out to be a massively stupid idea to begin with, but Trump gets to claim a win either way. This is how one fails upwardly their entire life.

It's this shit that gives me hope.

Not the protests.

Not the community building.

The fact that the "in-chargers" are so mindless that they don't know not to eat each other.

The tariff hadn't been seen by oligarchs. Although, Musk is the big winner here. He has stolen millions of government and confidential data to train AI and surveil people.

[–] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Trump a few weeks ago: "Tesla cars are the best!"

Trump now: "Tesla cars are shit!"

🤷

I wish I could remember what we bet on how long their bromance would last.

Two entities like these simply cannot coexist.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

2 malignant narcissist cannot exist in close proximity

[–] SpaceShort@feddit.uk 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ah, so Trump and Musk have fallen out? Musk remains the richest man in the world. If he turns against Trump, it would be interesting what would happen.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Probably the same symbolic back and forth "will he won't he" that Bezos and Trump play.

[–] shan23@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I feel like them turning on each other was inevitable. It was just a matter of when. Still the cracks started forming earlier than I expected, I wonder if trump will eventually take away a lot of teslas subsidies since it seems like the maga crowd also hates him

[–] kautau@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah fascism consumes until there is nothing left but eventual self-consumption. Here's to hoping we stop lining elon's pockets with taxpayer money through tesla

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Musk needs to pull the evidence for Trump now. Put it out there for all to see.

Will he tho? Doubtful or Musk loses everything the government gives him.

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Gee, would the guy who lost $50 billion by destroying the most popular app in history do something stupid out of vindictiveness?

Let's find out!

[–] refutablewife@reddthat.com 1 points 1 day ago

How does anyone still have this take?

He got to stomp the life out of a tool that was allowing the chaffe to organize, and the published list of his outside investors for the transaction is full of states and princes ganting to strip away the ability of the low-borns to fight back in any meaningful way.

He didn't lose a fucking cent on Twitter.

[–] PotatoLibre@feddit.it 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

A fight between two of the biggest narcissistic men on the planet.

It's going to take a looooot of popcorns.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago

I'm already out of popcorn!
