Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Welcome to the club Australia! Now it's time to get to work and put measures in place to prevent what's happening in the US from happening in our countries.
We are lucky enough to have the royals as a check and balance. The moment an authoritarian party gets into power the Governor/Queen can and has previously booted the ruling Government out. (See Prime Minister Menzies controversy)

Could you expand on that please ? I assume you're not referencing Gough Whitlam's dismissal by the GG at the behest of the CIA ?
I've had a quick search and can't find anything pointing to conflict between Menzies and the Crown, nor anything suggesting the monarch or the GG booted him out. Could be a searching failure on my part of course so info appreciated
So true. But the more roadblocks the better. Just to be safe.
Safe to say, Australians did not like what they were seeing in the USA. A resounding majority win is huge considering they only just formed minority Government in their previous term.

Yeah, I chuckled at that. Labor is centrist with MPs soft right and soft left around the centre. The Greens are left but they lost 2 seats.
Still a huge swing left in context of the last election.
Careful Australia. Our spineless opposition leader is having another MP resign his seat so he can run in a by-election there. The riding he chose voted 80% Tory.
That shit mostly doesn’t fly here. Parachute candidates traditionally do very poorly. We have preferential voting and about a 3rd of primary votes go to minor parties, and independents. Protest votes are a big problem for the majors to deal with.
