According to the report, Netanyahu believes Israel now has an opportunity to significantly improve its security situation by pushing Hezbollah beyond the Litani River.

And if that happens, Bibi will say he needs to grab even more land to secure the new land.

Because logically that justification will never end, wherever the border is, there will always be the same "security need" to defend the new land as there was to grab it.

It literally never ends, and as other nations realize that, surrender and peace stop being an option because you know it's just a minor delay.

On a positive note, that attitude was a factor in the collapse of Rome - and the Romans had a much larger economy.

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 22 points 1 month ago (3 children)

But the Romans didn't have a stranglehold on a superpower country through religious cult fanatics. I don't think. Honestly actually wouldn't be surprised.

I think they're being so aggressive right now because they know their hold on both US parties is on a timer.

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 3 points 1 month ago

And the orange war will make more people question their energy security, advancing that timer. The middle east becomes less important as the oil becomes less important. The gulf states know that which is why they are trying to diversify. They hitched their wagons to the USA for security but the USA just fucked them with making their safety and security doubtful for the foreseeable future, undermining any attempts for tourism, ai data centres, travel hubs etc.

Trump has basically burned all bridges in all parts of the world, for no appreciable gain.

No they just were that themselves

It's more that they didn't have the ability to destroy cities with a single bomb dropped from the upper atmosphere by a stealth bomber as a constant threat to anyone in the world who disagreed with Rome.

It also won't stop them from attacking Iran again, so...

I see we've entered the Lebensraum era of Israeli genocide.

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

No surprises there. He knows there's still children in Lebanon he hasn't murdered yet.

[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Would be nice to see the whole rest of the middle east unify against Israel...

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Would be nice to see the entirety of the USA unite against Israel.

[–] viov@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

That is work in progress

[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I suppose both are equally lofty pipe dreams.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 month ago (3 children)

What happens when this fuckers heart finally gives out? Seriously, what’s the long term plan here?

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

There isn’t one. Tyrants don’t do succession, it’s part of the overall effect

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

Yes, when the president dies the country just stops existing. thank you for clearing that up Steven

This is bigger than one particular war criminal. The long term plan is to to continue the colonial project of exterminating their neighbors and claiming their land.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

always has been since day 1 when the zionists formed their "state".

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 month ago

I think Israel has an election coming up this year, and the Likud is expected to do poorly because they lost an unfair advantage due to recent legislation that took away the privileged status of ultra-orthodox voters

Hoping that Hezbollah and Yemen continue to fuck Israel over. These genocidal maniacs need to be stopped.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago

He seriously thinks there's gonna be a US-Iran deal?

[–] gdtf@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Piss off out of Lebanon!!

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

We need to invade Israel.

[–] Dragomus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Theoretical next step, Libanon pollutes the lands south of the river all the way to the border with nuclear waste.... What would bibi's answer be then? Still claim wanting the land because of safety?
