There is literally nothing that Donald and his limp-dick friends won't exploit in order to profit personally and insider trade.

He'd be in a gibbet to be spat upon if there were any justice in this world.

I'm genuinely confused. They're closing the strait, until the blockade is lifted? The fuck does that even mean? Isn't closing the straight a blockade, and the blockade is making them blockade the blockade? Seriously confused.

Iran let a lot of non-US ships, like ships from China or Spain through as long as they paid with RMB or EUR instead of USD.

The US wanted to stop that because it could collapse the petrodollar and they'd have to start paying for their own debt spending. So basically the US lets shipping through that supports the petrodollar, Iran lets shipping through that undermines it.

It's my take on it though, everything is likely much more fuzzy.

Iran's original blockade still allowed Iran affiliated and Iran approved ships through. US blockade blocks those ships.

I think Trumps just playing the stockmarket but Ive a nasty suspicion he's going to land troops after the ceasefire and try and take Iranian resources probably oil. I don't see that move going too well for US troops and might actually get China involved.

We'll see what his next announcement is on Monday.

Dude always times them with the market for maximum grift, but I'm with you. I think he and Israel are stalling to regroup for another offensive.

Either side: It's closed until they stop closing it

The strait is in a superposition of closed and open.

[–] h3ron@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 days ago

it's more like a superposition of closed and more closed

I was assisting a customer the other day for about 20 minutes. Elderly woman, her husband in tow. He had advanced Parkinson's, I learned. She had a very self-depreciating and gentle demeanor. I frequently assist older customers through complex ordering processes and find that my patience goes a long way to alleviate their technology anxieties.

At the end she praised Trump for what I presume she felt was a reasonable, low price or sales tax on her order. She asked me if I was a supporter and I gently told her I thought he was the worst person alive and ought to be in prison. Her counter to this was that he'd opened the Strait. I reminded her that he was the one responsible for its closure in the first place.

She elected to drop the subject.

Today, in light of this, I am reminded of one woman's utter ignorance and disregard for reality, and wonder if any of this will reach her under the rock she surely lives under. I can only wish her well- Parkinson's is a cruel disease and watching her husband deteriorate must be truly painful.

Wait until Trump comes for her husband's healthcare coverage. Let's see if her loyalty lies with her partner or that dumb orange fuck.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 13 points 6 days ago

She will blame Biden or Obama or Newsom or whoever they tell her to blame.

Her counter to this was that he’d opened the Strait. I reminded her that he was the one responsible for its closure in the first place.

I, too, am sick of hearing people pretend that him doing a half-assed band-aid job on his own fuckups makes him some kind of legitimate president, all while strategically timing his announcements on the war so his kids can make insider trades on his behalf. Sickening shit.

The upside is many of these stupid people will be dead soon. The problem is that Gen Z is just as easy to manipulate, since both governments and families have elected not to regulate social media use even in light of its obvious harm to people's well being.

The thing is they’re being fed a literal world-class propaganda system to prop up the Epstein Class. The right wing has utterly captured messaging in the USA, which is why this poor woman and all the rest are convinced of pizzagate and blood bleach and the legitimacy of their best try

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 0 points 6 days ago

Yup, I know.

Also why it's never going to change. Fascism will inevitably grow stronger.

You have no idea the physical toll a blockade has on a person!

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You have no idea the economic toll that these strait closures have on a country!

[–] Shellofbiomatter@lemmus.org 5 points 1 week ago

Only country? The whole world is getting covered in the shit that hit this fan.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Methinks the Trump team lied to the negotiators once again, and were trying to play it off again as "Iran misunderstanding the terms of the deal".

[–] capt_wolf@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

"the Trump team lied" is pretty much just a default assumption until proven otherwise.

Just report when we stop flip flopping twice a day

[–] GalacticSushi@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

But then how would the president do his pump and dump scams?

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago
