Fuck ICE.

They can’t arrest us all

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 2 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

Ice are just Trumps police. They will be used against all of you in the near future. The way I understand things now is that hormuz will remain closed.

This will create shortages in fertilizer (used in food production, so it will create food shortages) and oil shortages for a lot of countries.

America has its own oil, but food could be affected. This will drive prices up even more. Americans and others will start to get aggressive because they cant afford food anymore. This is why ice is needed. Because some of you Americans have guns and will use them if you get desperate.

I just pulled all money off the stock market myself. I think people are not realizing the importance of hormuz for everything. Its just a delayed effect.

The YouTube channel Predictive History is good to watch to understand the much bigger picture whats happening here.

Some people will say "conspiracy theory" and sure, I understand. I just like to be careful. If hormuz opens, we can all say im stupid. :)

Effects have started in some countries:

In Asia, where most Hormuz oil traffic goes, many countries have already reached the logical endgame of low reserves. Refineries have been cutting their flows, governments have resorted to active rationing, and price-sensitive consumers are cutting back. The Philippines has declared a national energy emergency. India has halted commercial liquefied petroleum gas supplies — used ‌widely for heating, cooking, and vehicle fuel. Japan has curtailed bus and ferry services because of fuel shortages.

I might be in the local minority, but I feel as though there are going to be major job shortages due to AI obsolescence. Since it will be a global phenomenon, this trend will lead to an influx in illegal immigration. Two new citizens will turn into ten new citizens in a few decades, and the quality of our universal basic income will be inversely proportional to the number of unskilled laborers.

... with all this being said, I don't understand why the people on the internet are against immigration enforcement. The majority-both Republicans and Democrats-oppose having an open border. I don't understand why this is perceived as a Bipartisan issue.

Because its implemented poorly with the least amount of humanity. Some kids that went into that system have been lost due to poor paperwork, not to mention the legal citizens that were deported on "accident" for looking too brown.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago

Wrong. The glasses will misidentify in real time.

The goal is to "accidentally" arrest and deport US citizens.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why bother they just target random people anyway. I have never seen any indication that their behaviour is in any way directed.

[–] ExperiencedWinter@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The point is to absolve the human behind the arrest from responsibility. "The system" gets to do the decision making, then the human can't be responsible for making a mistake and arresting the wrong person.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So we are doing “just following orders” again?

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

More the corporate "this was an unforseeable error in the system" that absolves themselves of any responsibility.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

It was, in fact, foreseen.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

The American people should wear masks and sun glasses when out.

[–] wilt@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

Head to toe body covering… wait…

[–] Tiral@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Isn't there some kind of weird reflective material that messes with it? Or is that just the stuff celebrities use so it crazily over excuses paparazzi pictures?

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 5 points 1 day ago

The glasses don't have to work, they just need "plausible" excuses for picking up anyone who catches their fancy. $1,500 a head, be it man, child, or woman.

Will they care / understand about false positives?

Not likely.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 59 points 2 days ago

Feature, not bug.

[–] crandlecan@mander.xyz 20 points 2 days ago (6 children)

As long as they kill p. of c., it'll be deemed legal 🫡🤢

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 2 days ago

Their "facial recognition" ends up just being a binary switch on a light detector

[–] FE80@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Groucho glasses.

[–] mech@feddit.org 38 points 2 days ago (4 children)

It'll use AI and even if you have your passport and birth certificate on you, proving they're wrong, you'll be in El Salvador before you can plead your case.

i think that's already the case

Targets for what???? Being brown? They need AI to confirm their racism? Was the old peter griffin white/not white chart not doing it for them anymore???

[–] other_cat@piefed.zip 2 points 1 day ago

My thoughts were that now they can ID people tagged as "dissenters" to widen the net.

[–] Shady_Shiroe@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (3 children)

You can't be called a racist if a machine decides it for you, same as if a drone does the killing, it mean you can't get convicted for murder even if you hit button to fire

If I point the gun, the gun evaluates the target, the gun automatically fires - then I'm not even doing anything!

(I should rewatch psycho-pass...)

Always has been.

Cameras are THE tools for surveilance, and adding more everywhere has always had only one goal.

[–] uenticx@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Everyone should start wearing clothing with known cartel member faces silk-screened on every inch.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Time to get your Insane Clown Posse makeup working.

[–] audaxdreik@pawb.social 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I was thinking more Jokerz, but honestly ICP is cool by me. Not really my thing, but they've always been anti-fash and after Violent J's daughter got into the furry fandom and formed an alliance, they're solid in my book.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago

I think there was an article a while back about how juggalo makeup is actually very effective at blocking facial recognition

[–] Siegfried@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Fucking magnets, how do they work?

[–] michaelmrose@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Notably the risks aren't simply that this will identify the undocumented its that it will provide a pretext to disappear almost anyone who isn't white.

The question is does any given non-white person look enough like one of over 10M people to get falsely flagged given agents a pretext to remove almost anyone they stop. Facial recognition of one person against a large enough database will almost always provide at least on possible match this is especially true if it matches against possible aliens and not against possibly aliens and citizens. EG a query of both will likely turn up Betty Sue Smith is herself and maybe a possible match with Known Deportable but a search against only aliens may return only Known Deportable with agents dismissing any claim by Betty that her ID must be fake.

Time to carry portable EMPs

… uhhh how do I make one?

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

You don't need a portable EMP.

All you need is basic KN95 mask and a hoodie. Or you can invest in sunglasses or ID-blocking eyeglasses, like IDGuard from Zenni. The point is to have your features covered as much as is feasible. When I go to a protest I wear a costume that covers my whole head and a jumpsuit.

You should have a KN95 on anyway if you're going out among people.

[–] other_cat@piefed.zip 1 points 1 day ago

Suddenly reminded of an article I saw from like... TEN years ago talking about anti-surveillance makeup and haircuts. It was just like painting block shapes in multiple colors on your face haha.

[–] EncryptKeeper@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (9 children)

You should know facial recognition software is optimized to defeat KN95 masks specifically

Is this like how we planned to nuke the moon in the '50s to scare the Russians?

[–] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Everyone should be wearing a Luigi mask anyway.

Like in V for Vendetta, but Saint Luigi instead.
