My company just helped move 2 workers to our Canada office whose visas were denied to be renewed in U.S. They had been in the U.S. for years but apparently government was like no, not anymore.

I kinda figured the H1B visas would be spared, since Elmo is a will known abuser of that program, along with most of silicone valley.

Yeah, for some reason they're all sopping wet, and they need to get them dry as fast as possible to process them.
