Hey OP, just wanted to pop in to see how your attempt to garner support for your shitass take on an online space that isn’t meant for you was going.

looks around

Yup. Pretty much what I thought.

Speaking as a man: Stop white knighting my gender.

We don't need your protection or worry.

Women making jokes on our expense does not hurt us.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social -2 points 3 hours ago

What the fuck. Dude, don't presume to speak for our gender, you're doing the same lame bullshit that he does, you're both losers. Move on.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 0 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

More subs than that one. There be some zealous motherfuckers lurking around these fora.

There’s misandry communities?

Where?

Edit: aw a downvote and no answer? I’m curious, where’s all these misandry communities you speak of?

[–] one_step_behind@quokk.au 18 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

But do I tag this user as "troll" or "misogynist"?

[–] one_step_behind@quokk.au 4 points 1 hour ago

Yeah, this is even better.

I checked out their feed since I figured I must have missed a big burst of bad content, but I don't see anything misandrist. I see a few posts critical of certain men, but even that's the minority of content.

Even going through comments I see only a healthy amount of misandry. I don't see any organizing of violence against all men, or even normalizing of it.

If you're feeling triggered by the things you see in a space meant for an oppressed class to vent then I think you're just too sensitive.

healthy amount of misandry

If you don't identify as a woman, it doesn't matter whatever the fuck is going on in there because it clearly says it's not about you.
Until they start brigading other communities I see no reason why men should even care, let alone actively engage.

[–] Watermark710@piefed.social 12 points 8 hours ago

Seriously. I saw that it was a space for women, and since I'm not a woman I blocked the community so I don't accidentally comment in a community where I'm not wanted. If the ladies need a space to vent, there's nothing wrong with that.

Louder for the back!

Misandry isn’t the reverse of misogyny. There’s no anti-men power structures being kept in place by women, there isn’t women-dominated governments stripping men of their rights, there’s no systemic violence against men perpetuated by women in power.

There are certainly individuals that hate men, but misandry simply doesn’t exist the same way misogyny does.

Thank you for your comment.

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

To be precise, misandry exists, but it doesn't have the same societal support that mysogyny does. Both exist, but one has a noticeable effect in the broader world where as the other mostly has effects only in limited spaces where the individual has enough control to override the default power imbalance.

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 hours ago

Thank you for expanding on my comment.

Institutional misandry doesn’t exist is the more precise parent statement.

[–] jjagaimo@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (1 children)

You've mistaken misogyny/misandry with patriarcy/matriarchy.

Misandry is by definition the hatred of, distrust of, or prejudice against men, as misogyny is the same against women.

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

You’ve mistaken institutional sexism with individual sexism.

As I said previously, individuals can be misandrist.

[–] jjagaimo@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

misandry isnt the reverse of misogyny

Except it is

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 hours ago

You're ignoring all the context in that paragraph.

[–] Elting@piefed.social 25 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

I haven't noticed a prevalence of that there. Checking it just now I can't find a single example of misandry. Maybe you are just misreading the vibe.

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 26 points 11 hours ago (16 children)

Yeah talking about what we would pair with a sweater or talking about our Monday motivations or supporting DKP’s garden adventures is total misandry. You got us.

[–] dkppunk@piefed.social 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Fuck yeah! I appreciate all the gardening support!! 💚

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 2 points 46 minutes ago (1 children)

I hope you post more pics soon! The weather has turned gorgeous where I am, I hope your plants are enjoying it too :)

[–] dkppunk@piefed.social 2 points 28 minutes ago

They are doing really well. I’ll have to get some up on the next motivation Monday or weekend post :)

My luffas are luffaing!!
