You do realize that the U.S. Constitution was written for a country where slavery was constitutionally permissible, right? And you’re also aware that the U.S. Constitution is the hardest of all democratic constitutions to amend, aren’t you? Likewise, that it has in fact been amended only very marginally, which makes this Constitution the only one that appoints constitutional judges for life and does not take into account to any significant degree that some states have far fewer residents than others, right?

In short: You are already aware that it is the U.S. Constitution itself that made today’s conditions—which no longer have the slightest connection to a democratic constitutional state—possible in the first place?

Edit: If not, I would strongly encourage everyone to fact-check this comment, because this is an issue that affects every U.S. citizen.

It is exhausting to hear "this isn't the country I grew up in" 55 years after the Attica Prison Riots.

What are you getting at? This country was designed to be an oligarchy, and it still is one. That's hardly surprising.

What are you getting at?

That we've been a fascist police state for far longer than liberals are comfortable accepting.

The scale has changed. The practices have always been here.

Thanks, I was too lazy to look up this example, especially since there are so many of them.
