[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

She broke 3 ribs apparently :(

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is that a lot? Wine grapes are small and have seeds

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 8 points 19 hours ago

Yeah it sounds like a big number but I'm surprised at how little it actually is

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 0 points 17 hours ago

Is that two or three bottles of berries worth?

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

Thank you for your service, grapes.

Man, I totally forgot this scene. It's been so long.

[–] OpenStars@piefed.social 2 points 18 hours ago

It has passed into the realm of pure meme now:-).

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I can only assume that smashing testicles led you thinking of stomping grapes.

[–] kibblebits@quokk.au 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well, I’m very thirsty now.

[–] Beacon@fedia.io 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not surprising, I'd guess a wine bottle can hold about 200 whole grapes of the varieties that are grown for wine which iirc are smaller sized grapes.

[–] Beacon@fedia.io 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

As wine yes, but as an eating grape definitely not

[–] West_of_West@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I disagree. I've got a Sauvignon Blanc vine that makes the tastiest grapes I've ever had. Sure, they are small and full of seeds, but they are way above table grapes for flavour

[–] Beacon@fedia.io 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Huh interesting, that's different from what I've tasted and read in articles, but it's entirely possible that your particular variety is superior

[–] West_of_West@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I was very surprised when eating it. Like you, I've read articles about wine grapes and I was expecting it to be bad.

I've taken cuttings off this vine, so maybe at some point I can get enough to make wine. Maybe the wine will be incredibly poor flavour.

[–] MycelialMass@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How hard is it to grow grapes? Seems like itd be fun

[–] West_of_West@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

Pretty easy if you get a type appropriate to your climate. They take a bit of work in the sense of pruning and training. It isn't difficult, but it needs to be done correctly to get the plant to fruit.

If you like gardening than it is fun.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I would enjoy those grapes better one at a time. Unless they are really sour.

[–] ranzispa@mander.xyz 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Generally grapes used to make wine are not really great to eat.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Sure are. What are you talking about?

...supermarkets usually have the breeds with berries larger than a thumb (and imo too sweet), because they keep longer. Maybe you're only used to them? But those are not typical grapes.

[–] calcopiritus@lemmy.world 4 points 21 hours ago

Completely disagree. Wine grapes are good too. In small quantities though, eat too many of them and there's a flavour that starts accumulating, which turns you off from eating too many.

Oh damn, i got confused here because in french "grappe" is the word for "grape cluster" so at first i was thinking it needed hundred of clusters for one bottle, and wine seemed very very wasteful to me for one moment

It’s objectively a waste of grapes and I think it’s pretty obvious

[–] CarstenBoll@feddit.dk 3 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Grapes don't keep well, wine does. Why do you think people started making wine and e.g. cider? Great way to preserve fruit juice.

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Today’s wine isn’t being made to keep grapes from going bad, the past doesn’t apply to now.

[–] CarstenBoll@feddit.dk 3 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

So what do you have against wine? It's not ikke butter is a waste of milk, it's a refined product. Same with wine.

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I think I stated what I have against it in my original comment

[–] CarstenBoll@feddit.dk 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Why are you being so defensive about wine?

[–] CarstenBoll@feddit.dk 4 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I'm not 🙂 but you're making a surprising statement and refusing to elaborate or have a conversation. Which is surprising to me, why engage in the first place then?

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

You engaged me first? wtf is there to elaborate on? This isn’t a very deep subject

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 days ago

I was thinking that myself.

Why feed people when you can feed tgeir addiction and make them uncomfortable to be around.
