Jesus, Tim Allen pops off about a reboot that is nowhere near being greenlit, doesn’t talk to his TV wife about it, says the entire cast Is onboard despite that not being true, and then finally throws three men he’s known since they were kids under the bus like they let him down personally somehow.

Oh and throw in the fact that EVERY show this fucknut has done since Home Improvement ended has basically been “Tim the Toolman with a slightly different family constellation and increasingly MAGA.”

What an asshole.

Wasn't Brad recently arrested?

[–] ZeroCool@piefed.ca 29 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yep, multiple times for DUI and domestic violence. According to the article he's currently serving 16 months in a California prison, after which he'll be serving another 18 months in an Oregon prison.

Yeah, sounds like he’s not ended up as a good guy either, but all the more reason Tim Allen shouldn’t have been floating this awful idea in public.

From the article, it sounds like the other two, while doing better in their personal lives, don’t act at all, meaning that even if it were somehow made, it wouldn’t even be professional grade slop.

Tbf in that kind of a reboot they dont even need to be good actors, they just have to be grown up versions of the kid from the prior show. Which could be anything, so long as they are the same actual person that played the kid.

Wasnt Home Improvement what made Tim Allen famous, which was after he got busted for dealing cocaine or something? Itd almost be against the spirit of the original show if the guy who played Brad doesnt get his chance at the redemption arc

It would definitely be terrible

Looks like the arrest (cocaine trafficking, sentence reduced by naming names) was very early in his stand-up career, so there was almost a decade of building up the grunting manly-man schtick that got him Home Improvement.

We watched an oddly large amount of "brick-wall" basic cable standup clips in our house, so I'd heard of him, but yes, you're basically correct.

Because of his exceptional lack of character?

That's probably for the best. I loved Home Improvement as a kid, but after rewatching it during the pandemic, I was pretty disappointed that it hasn't held up as well as other popular sitcoms of the '90s. Every episode is just a generic "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" story with some random grunting thrown in. Hell, that kind of material was stale before the show even premiered.

The only Tim Allen I need is from Galaxy Quest.

Is it because he's a massive turd sandwich?

[–] Entertainmeonly@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That does not sound like a show that would land with any audience anymore.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

well, one very ~~traditional~~ regressive audience.

The great John Bois uses the Home Improvement Tim/Al Dichotomy to describe the history of the first International oceanic communication cable. It is a great couple hours of history lessons while continuously making fun of Home Improvement and making fun of Tim Taylor for being a toxic charlatan sociopath. Highly recommend.

Cocaine dealer complains about others behavior.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

I could not care less about the dealer part, it is the narc part of that story that is troublesome.
