Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh reaffirmed his country's support for China's position on Taiwan and said issues involving Hong Kong, Tibet and Xinjiang were China's internal affairs during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

He said Mongolia considers Taiwan an inseparable part of Chinese territory and does not support any form of Taiwanese independence.

China tomorrow: "Mongolia is part of China"

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

They don't even have to do that. When the Mongolians behave like god little lapdogs, there's no need to annex them.

Its not like Mongolia has much choice in their foreign policy, when their only neighbours are Russia and PLC

Nah, this isn't about a 'one-China policy' but rather about money as coal-rich Mongolia aims to boost China trade ties despite dependence risk

Mongolia hopes to boost trade by more than a tenth this year with China, the biggest destination for its exports of coal and minerals, setting a target that will further boost economic dependence on its giant neighbor.

... China’s demand for Mongolian ‌coal is also likely to grow, [Xu Tianchen, senior analyst at the Economist Intelligence Unit] said, after a mining disaster killed 82 people in northern Shanxi, putting pressure on domestic coal supplies.

So it's the typical turbo-capitalism with Chinese characteristics: money and political coercion.
