I feel like I'm a really good judge of character; I can tell if I'm not going to get along with someone or how they will treat me in the future. When it comes to high profile celebrity figures, i can get a sense of their character through very minimal data. This is why I predict Andrew Tate (toxic manosphere influencer) will pivot into becoming an alien conspiracy influence. But I have no evidence for it, thus the prediction is baseless.

Anyone have any similar beliefs/predictions?

I don't think I am very good at future predictions or expectations. Thirty years ago I never expected what we have now.

I've got a pretty simple one: I'm going to die of natural causes in the near future. According to the doctors I should have a couple of years ago already and yet I am still here.

Right now I am homeless in one of the so called richest countries on this planet and there is nothing left. Been through all the social welfare programs. No job, no money, no hope. One day we're all going to die so it doesn't matter anyway.

I've started the "computer hobby" in the 1970s and was communicating with fellow "computer freaks" (that was an insult back then and probably it is again now) before the World Wide Web existed. Modern social media always was a big No-No for me. Three days ago I've decided to join the Lemmy World/Fediverse and I'm going to post whatever I want to just for the fun of it. Maybe that's my way of spending some time with people. Maybe it's my way of sharing something with the world. Maybe I'll write my autobiography here. Yes, I am serious and real. No, I am not obligated to provide "proof" for the keyboard warriors out there. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I'm so sorry to hear that dude, and let's take a moment to be celebrste the fact you're still alive - because whether it's dumb-luck or down to you taking good care of yourself, it's still worth being joyous about.

As for being failed by social welfare, you're in good company because a lot of people on the fediverse are also struggling to thrive in modern "1st world" countries despite being smart and articulate people. Some have the same story as you. I think you will get a lot out of fediverse as a social media, i know i have and i've only been here ~ 7 months. It's heakthy because it's more like old fashioned forums. (Old fashioned in terms of the internet's lifespan)

Have you seen Elysium?

Yeah...pretty much that. In some form or another. It won't necessarily be the wealthy people blasting off to a space station, more likely just hiding away on luxury islands while the rest of the world continues to go to shit.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 5 points 6 days ago

I've heard New Zealand is a popular place for that.

The AI bubble will burst sometime in 2027/early 2028.

Trump will use the financial collapse as an excuse to suspend elections.

The majority will be too busy scrambling to survive to complain.

Oligarchs, frustrated with dealing with their political sockpuppets, start just buying countries.

AI at scale will flop, but will return later as open source small businessess tool.

Pretty sure I'm going to find myself in some kind of mass migration by highway, get identified at a checkpoint as politically unacceptable in some way, then get moved to a large empty sports stadium with about 1-2 hundred other people, then get marched out onto the field and shot. I saw it very vividly in a dream that did not fade after waking up.

I think the earth is going to metaphorically say enough is enough and step in to fix climate change because humans are too selfish and greedy to do it ourselves. I think this is going to come by way of a massive volcanic eruption that causes short term global cooling while killing a good chunk of the population across a large geographical area both from the immediate disaster and the resulting long term damage from widespread ash/famine that could result.

[–] gwl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 6 days ago

The earth has been through many many climate changes, this isn't the first, it isn't the last

The earth don't care, it keeps chugging along, no it's us that won't survive

The world order will collapse when brainrot GenZ will take the reins

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 3 points 6 days ago

Nah. Gen Z is going to end up like Gen X. It is Gen Alpha which is going to kill us all if the Boomers don't already do it.

Here in Japan lots of people wear these while working, it looks like a great solution for mild summer temps of 28c, but sincerely is mostly unusable in the wet heat of other regions.

I can't say this is completely baseless because there's too much out there about it but it will be disclosed that aliens do exist, they're not from other planets but other dimensions, and they've been manipulating mankind for thousands of years.

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.today 6 points 6 days ago

They have a light switch in their house and they don't know what it's for. They just flip it every so often.

Little did they know it's was actually a peace and war switch

Once at a dinner party, one alien was showing the switch to another and they flipped it back and fourth a bunch of times and started WW1

Couple years later, another party and BAM WWII
