Count Binface currently has odds of 5/1. Lawrence Fox is at 200/1, but he is the joke candidate.

Not a joke if he gets elected

All hail the glorious binface.

Why won't the other parties fight him?

[–] djdarren@piefed.social 5 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Out of principle. All the while he's an MP he can be investigated for his financial dealings, so the only reason he's "resigned" is to stop that. If he loses to a serious candidate then that's that, but he can walk away pretending that his dignity is intact and that he stood up for his principles.

So they're standing by and letting him continue, knowing that the investigation will pick up where it left off.

While simultaneously ensuring that he can't say "but it's democratic I'm here, my constituency didn't care and you lost."

It's one of those sham sort of weird have DNA evidence and modern policing, but forgot to get rid of the right to trial by combat so some cunt rolls the dice trying to dodge it. If you just say... No that's stupid we won't participate, you can invalidate their nonsense without running any risk of a disaster

At which point if he is found to have breached rules the tax payer has to fork out for another by election
