In case anyone is wondering, Home Depot is claiming this is meant to deter overnight parking. This is something that has precedent elsewhere, but the timing of the installation with the recent ice raids is very interesting.

It is legitimately free after you sign up, I get their reasoning but is kinda annoying.

ChatGPT just kinda felt like that would be useful context today.

By passive, I was trying to say that no external power/additional connection/etc is required. But, the port is technically powered and that is enough to make it not passive.

There are a lot of passive adapters out there that seem like black magic at first.

Obviously has drawbacks, but you can also do displayport/hdmi to VGA passively.

I like Pebble, but I've been on the gadget rollercoaster too many times and until it's proven and quantified 'years of average use' means nothing.

I don't think they're interested in making it more difficult to arrest and charge people.

I wonder how they got that name, maybe just me but it brings to mind a lot of things but none of them are a chat client.

I think it mostly reminds me of voat, anyone remember that horrible place?
