Your setup is fine, it does what you want. That doesn’t mean this isn’t better. Yes it’s more expensive, but that’s because it’s much better hardware. Not everyone wants a Corolla, some want a Lamborghini.

My position is that it should all be up to the user. Let me block instances and communities if I don't want to see them. Let me choose what content I want to see. I don't need some mods deciding what is and isn't acceptable based on their ideologies and beliefs, because as we all know and see every day, most abuse that power almost all the time.

It's not wild at all, and I have never tried to hide it. I've said it openly many, many times on Lemmy. I think all censorship is bad. Only weak minded people want or need censorship.

Mine will last way longer than yours, it's way more powerful than yours so can do a multitude of things that yours couldnt ever dream of doing, I don't need a DAS either - I could just have easily kept using my NAS for the storage without issue, and while you can upgrade your hardware that costs more money and it still won't be as good as mine (and with mine having multiple high speed thunderbolt ports, I can very easily just add dozens of TB's of ultra fast storage that essentially acts as if it's on-board). I don't think you understand just how much better the Mac Mini hardware is than yours lol.

If a stalker wants to harass you, preventing them from replying to you will only mean they’re going to keep making more accounts to get around it, then it’s just a constant game of whack-a-mole that you will not win.

If they keep replying to all your comments and get zero reply from you, ever, but can’t see that you blocked them, they’ll eventually get tired of it because they need the response - that’s why they are doing it.

If you can’t see their replies to your posts then who cares? Who cares if other people can see them and reply to them - you can’t, so why does it matter? You do not get to decide that other people are censored. If you want that ability, start your own instance and start your own communities so you can go all fascist dictator on them there.
