I haven't watched any of the latest season yet but I get the impression that the writers are going out on a "do what we always wanted to do" note like in Enterprise S4.

A debloated Google Maps would be amazing.

The hard question becomes is it better for Linux (where anyone can contribute labor) to get the attention and donations or for commercial software where only nonhuman corporations benefit.
Canada should just stop honoring us IP. They could let a Canadian company clone Google Maps.
Lets be real though, nobody comes close on the quality of Google Maps. Everyone needs to contribute to OSM.

Those exterior shots really stuck with me as well. I can't imagine growing up with blurry spaceship models viewed on a CRT tv to the giant, sweeping, detailed close up and wide shots we get in that opening shuttle scene. Now people laugh about how long it goes on for but I have to imagine for a lot of fans it was still not long enough!
I forgot about that scene! Must be in the director's cut.
Please stop hyping up the power of text generators. LLMs aren't predators with will of their own, they only have as much power as we are willing to cede to them.
The more afraid we are of slop doing something other than just being slop, the more power we are giving the companies (which are harmful) to actually control us. Don't help them.
