Well I'm glad (or at least, I hope) it helped. I hope they're doing better now...

Aha. I didn't know that. I knew about benzos and alcohol, but not opioids. That makes sense...
Thanks!

Aha. I guess I should have been less lazy and read the whole article...welp. Sorry...
Still, thanks. As the other comments have mentioned, there are aspects that I had absolutely no idea about. And frankly, I'm glad it's so effective. That's actually really cool.
Thank you

Because with methadone, long-term success rates are significantly higher (60-90% vs 5-10%), relapse rates are far lower

Wow...just wow. That's actually insane. I didn't know that! And I also didn't know it doesn't come with the euphoria.
Huh...thank you for that!

I believe methadone scratches the same physiological itch that other opioids do, but without as many side effects

Overall, the complex problem of opioid treatment is transformed into a smaller, manageable problem, which doctors know how to tackle.

I see...that actually makes a lot of sense and it's well-put. I guess I'm kinda starting to get it...
Thanks!

I see. That makes sense, if it works.

I've heard about nicotine gum before. I know from personal experience that the withdrawals aren't fun...

I knew that about alcohol. Still, withdrawals from a drug that's that commonly used and widely accepted is...scary at best

Thanks for the comment!

I started thinking about this cause I'm currently going through kratom withdrawal myself, which is an opioid receptor agonist. I'm basically going through a very mild version of opioid withdrawal, which is certainly manageable, but not pleasant, with its flu-like symptoms.

So, opioid use disorder used to be (and still is) a huge problem in some countries. The stronger and commonly abused opioids, like heroin, morphine and fentanyl, as I understand it, are extremely addicting, but I'm no expert on this subject.

What I don't get tho...is for opioid use disorder, doctors prescribe methadone? Another synthetic opioid? Why? I'm genuinely curious.
From a quick Wikipedia read, it seems that methadone does cause addiction itself and withdrawal is actually longer than other opioids, that are used recreationally. Are the withdrawal symptoms less severe? Is it an effective form of treatment? I really do not know and I'm quite curious.

If someone had personal experience to share, that would probably be best.
But my question is basically: Methadone? Why the fuck do they prescribe that for opioid use disorder?

Sorry for the stupid question, I'm not very well educated on this subject and also really curious.

OMFG
For real?? Holy shit...well I'm glad you woke up. Welcome back 🩷

It depends on the woman imho. And, tbf, I'm trans and trans women are kinda known for showing off the tits they worked so hard for, lol. It's hard work, eating properly! /s

Thank you tho. You're super kind and I'm glad you're okay ♥️

The titties are not what I meant, those are fine. I meant literally everything else about me. Sorry...

Here you go.

Flat, underdeveloped, bad picture, ugly...but a little soapy. Enjoy, I guess...

If I'm being completely honest, the first name I'd write would be mine.

No, not accidentally.

Thanks. The cops in my country are way different. Sure, they're armed, but they're generally really, really nice and they mostly focus on deescalating the situation. Doesn't mean I wasn't scared out of my mind, cause I've only interacted with the police a couple of times in my life, but those couple of times have always been nothing but positive.
