Technology is moving fast, I have experienced something similar in a metaverse like setting (release of a new luxury watch in a metaverse). It was a bit odd to describe. The vibe was closer to a Nintendo Mii gathering than an actual meeting. I'm sure one day we will get into the realm of sci-fi VR meetings, basically teleportation without actually moving. Just look at how quickly video calling went from sci-fi to basically being the norm in business these days.

As someone who often attends and speaks at these type of events, I would advice against that. The main benefit of these events lies in the connections people make. These connections are very personal and don't really work in a virtual context (yet, might in the future though). Most innovations are inspired by having a chat with other people and just throw some ideas and different perspectives around. That won't happen if you treat a conference as a Teams meeting, people would just dial in, give their presentation and leave. Frankly, most presentations or talks during these conferences could have been (usually are) an article anyways. It's the discussions that happen outside of these agenda items where the value is.
I'm curious: why?
Removing IP law just feels like it would only benefit those with the resources to scale new technology quickly. It basically kills all start ups.

This is infuriating, but what surprises me more is that Netanyahu seems to be fine with it? Seriously? He romanticizes the holocaust?
I know some Israeli are protesting on the streets, but this type insult should be met with country wide demonstration, right?
This isn't as much about the social media platforms, competing with those is relatively feasible. This is more about the professional infrastructure market. Microsoft Azure, AWS and Google Cloud. There isn't really a European competitor there, the US dominates this market. We have a huge trade deficit on these services, which Trump "conveniently" didn't include in his trade war analysis.
Basically the only reason I read the article is to know if they needed a "backdoor" in encryption, guess the don't need it, like everyone with a little bit of IT knowledge always told them.
This, if the so called Tesla fans even drive the car, they know all of the above is more or less true. Newer cars have fewer of these issues, but the camera based Auto Pilot system is still in place. The car doesn't even allow you to use cruise control under certain circumstances, because the car deems visibility too poor. The camera also only detects rain when its pouring, every other situation it will just randomly engage/disengage.
I drive a Tesla Model 3 (2024) daily and I wouldn't trust the car driving itself towards a picture like that. It would be an interesting experiment to have these "Tesla Fans" do the same experiment and use a concrete wall for some additional fun. I bet they won't even conduct the experiment, because they know the car won't detect the wall.
Is it that simple? Because in my situation it wasn't, I wasn't driving very fast and the situation changed quickly. I was just cruising and following the car in front of me that I could see, but as the fog quickly got thicker, the car in front of me had to emergency brake, and as did I. My car detected that quicker than I did, for which I'm grateful.
"See, I told you they are attacking us!" /s
Exactly, my previous car (BMW) once saved me in the fog by emergency braking for something I wasn't able to see yet. My current car (Tesla) shuts down almost all safety features when the camera's can't see anything, so I doubt it will help me in such situations. The only time my Tesla works well is in perfect conditions, but I don't live in California.

Have a look at Home Assistant! It’s a great open source smart home platform that recently released a local (so not processing requests in the cloud) voice assistant. It’s pretty neat!
How will you build wealth without mortgages and just paying cash? Then most people wouldn't be able to afford to buy a home, they would always be slaves to rent. No mortgages plays right into the hand of the wealthy few that can exploit the renters.
