No kidding. Back when the Deck was new, I played a fair amount of Cyberpunk on it and it was fiiiiine. Not good, not very good looking, but enjoyable you know? Minus the bloody text, as I had to guess what things did because a tiny font at a minuscule resolution on a small screen in red? Not exactly readable.

Internet has nothing to do with this. You could be in a submarine at the bottom of the Mariana’s trench with a Frame, a good enough computer and a random (decent…) WiFi router plugged into power only, and it’ll work. Your local network is not part of the internet.

Performance was fine even on the Oculus Go. Streaming performance is about the computer and quality of your wireless access point, but supposing both are fine, it’ll also be fine. Been doing it since the Oculus Go.

I need to try that again on my desktop, a while ago something broke hard and initially I had to disable AV1 and HEVC, but then it just decided that nah, we don’t do any of that stuff in this house. Then again, not SteamOS so….

It’s not “just WiFi”. It’s 6ghz WiFi 7, and the higher the frequency, the lower the range/obstacle penetration… In general, lower frequencies have longer range but have less capacity. The 5 GHz bands are absorbed to a greater degree by common building materials than the 2.4 GHz bands and usually give a shorter range. How much will that impact things? Don’t know, but honestly I don’t think the placement of the connector on your computer should be a problem :)
