And Tesla already walked right into that one. They produced their cars in China, starting up an ecosystem for EV parts, and that gave dozens of new Chinese car manufacturers the means to start up to become cheaper and more innovative. Now Tesla's sales are dropping and dropping there.

So of course Volkswagen is there to say "we can do that too".

The training data for a lot of robots comes from tele operation so that form factor is going to stay important for some time. And making the whole plant basically wheelchair accessible isn't worth it for now. There are variants with a wheeled base but once you add in some balancing for heavier objects and kneeling to pick stuff up it's not much cheaper.

Putin is really pushing it because Russia is spiraling down in a very tight "and then it got worse" loop that is getting shorter and shorter by the day.
