Team Green plans to get closer to the Chinese markets by building a dedicated R&D center in China as well, which means that NVIDIA is serious about this move.

Yup, of course they are. As I said the other day, US firms for which their userbase is not the product face long term downside as the US state cuts them off of foreign markets or the foreign markets cuts them off as retaliation to the US state trade policies. If they keep their product development in the US they're facing reduced markets and increased dependence on the US state. And of course increased competition by foreign (e.g. China's Huawei) firms catching up to fill the demand gap. If they manage to fill the gap with price competitive product, there's no coming back for NVIDIA.

That would be fucking amazing.

I guess they'd be ramping up Comac C919 production.

Has unemployment risen? I looked at some numbers and it looks really low over the last few years. Not a Mexican.

It's got no legal standing, but as many things in life, when you want to advocate for something and you want to say that something is important to people, the arguments are a lot easier to make when you have "evidence." A bunch of signatures can serve this purpose. Could be something they could use in a legal argument. This petition could even be just a first step, to be followed by others methods or actions.

Another function it could serve is getting people engaged and aware of the issue, spreading further awareness.

Another function is getting the contact information of people willing to do something about this issue. They could later leverage that to ask for other actions that are more meaningful.

That's not necessarily the point. Organizing political action has many components and if the IA want these signatures, perhaps they need them. This is not necessarily the same as a random person making a random petition on change.org.

I'm joking. I thought you're joking when you said it's gov't propaganda so I continued in the same vein. :D

I'm an absolute supporter or "a friend of CBC" and I'm doing everything I can to stop Poilievre from killing it. We desperately need a Canadian gov't funded news media in the current media climate.

Yeah but the orange thumb isn't known for rationality so joke aside, I wouldn't put it past him to escalate.
