"They asked for my password. They didn't specify which password."

What about this post starting with the premise that they may be "a very strange person" makes you think they are blaming others for their difficulty?

Should also consider the possibility of ADHD.

Everything has changed except human nature.

Your example shows how far cultural norms have shifted. Reading a paper around others is anti social in a culture where you are expected to interact with and give others your attention.

Each generation may react the same way to the new behaviors of the next generation, but that does mean those new behaviors do not form a consistent trend representing real change in the culture. In this case that trend is increasing individualism and weakening of community norms.

Just one quibble:

The only reason to make a dishwasher that refuses a rival's dishes is if the manufacturer's own dishes are ugly, expensive, and/or badly made

No, greed is reason enough. If they think they can get away with it, they would do that whether the dishes are good or bad, just to maximize how much money they can squeeze out of their customers.

I might be mistaken, but I think a thumb only gesture is offensive in some cultures. Not sure how important the hand orientation is.

Night watchman if nights are OK. I'm not in touch with how available such jobs are these days, but I had a gig once for a couple of months when I first got out of college, decades ago. Was great to get some reading and thinking done.

This has been going on for generations. The world used to be a much more dyi, less prepackaged place. Each generation does less and less for themselves. I see the difference between my father's generation and my own as well as between my generation and later ones. Shit, my grandfather built his own fucking house.

That's never particularly been me, except when I'm sleep deprived. But in recent years I've been consistent about my sleep and wake times (including not changing them on weekends) and that seems to help a lot. According to my tracker it usually takes me about 10 min to fall asleep.

Yes, we should never be for a thing we ourselves do not directly do. Presumably you are running for mayor or governor like you said this guy could do.

Yes, please let's stop granting this dickhead relevance.

Searching F-droid today for 'vpn', something called URNetwork came up, touting itself as better then a VPN, and sounding frankly too good to be true. Duckduckgo searches are finding very little not either going to them (ur.io, or their github, etc) or some site called Product Hunt that I've never come across before. Nothing useful or that gives me confidence even that this isn't a scam.

Does anyone know anything about this product?
