And why does this government have a habit of announcing spending where the money was already ringfenced to spending on that thing?

PR and damage control.

Alternatively it's the government equivalent of Briscoes advertising a sale.

I have a pet theory that not understanding statistics is a requirement for being a journalist.

OK, there were ten people. One killed in a vehicle collision, one kicked out, one ran away.

Using a percentage is misleading.

It wouldn't publish the overall reoffending rate, but said the majority of the MSA cohort reoffended within two months of release into the community.

Can't spin that as "tough on crime" though.

It's worth a read. It's not too long.

Police make a strong case for why it should not have been published. Including explaining why.

Stuff asserts that no such explanation was made, then in the same breath asserts that the explanation was baseless

Only Stuff decided to publish. They're the odd ones out here.

The horn and a middle finger are already well entrenched as communication tools.

The quality is quite poor, but I'm reasonably sure that being able to talk ~~to~~ at people sounds worse.

Having said that, the idea of CB radio is cool.

Any fool can see that a French owner is immediately going to source raw materials from the EU as soon as possible.

This is Fonterra (a cooperative of dairy farmers) doubling down on their own myth of being the 'life blood of the country' and cutting their noses off to spite their faces in the process.

These are the same entitled fools who got all uppity at maybe having to offset their carbon footprint.

Selling the 'fancy cheeses' business is them sticking it to the city folk. Short sighted and poor business, but they get a free $400k today. They'll get a nasty surprise tomorrow when that income doesn't come in the dividend anymore.

The US prefers extra-judicial murder.

Likewise.

Gravity Falls is pretty good on that front too.
