I don't use Matrix but I've been considering trying to move my friends to it from Discord. What about it is garbage?

It's a bit dark, but I think suicide would become extremely common. Born in a third world country? Reroll. Born as the wrong gender? Mulligan. Getting old? Refresh. etc.

It would probably cause a lot of chaos in society. I think there would probably be a stigma around it unless there's a good reason, with people going out of their way to prove that they died naturally. I guess you'd have to memorize a secret phrase or something to prove you're the same person.

Also, would people even want to have kids, if it's just some random old person's mind? Not really sure how I would feel about that.

And what happens when the population decreases? Would everyone just be waiting in a queue to be born, or would they actually die? Either way, choosing to not have kids would become a bit of a tragedy of the commons.

Uh, unless you're a philosophical zombie, you have direct proof that consciousness exists. On a level that isn't directly explainable from our current understanding of the brain.

I don't have any proof that anyone else is conscious. For all I know, it's possible that everyone else is just a biological automaton. (although occam's razor suggests otherwise)

But I do experience my own existence and awareness. So because of that, I'm 100% certain that consciousness is a real thing, more certain than I am of literally anything else existing.

I'd like to clarify that it doesn't mean that free will exists, and doesn't suggest whether consciousness is emergent, separate, or universal. But it definitely exists beyond just being some observable collection of behaviours.

Also infrared cameras are pretty sensitive, so the lights often aren't that bright.

And the contact lens definitely won't make infrared light as bright as visibly light. It also likely doesn't line up exactly with the wavelength used by most cameras.

It would probably be noticeable but not appear very bright.

A bit shorter than a (parking) meter.

Then go talk to AI and stop spamming us.

???

Why are you replying if you won't even read what I'm writing?

Seriously? Maybe this isn't a good place for you if you're going to behave this way.

If all you want is a one night stand, this kinda does sound like you're leading her on. It feels a bit dishonest to be talking with her for an extended period of time and getting to know her if you just want a hookup, not even a friendship.

In this situation all you can be is honest, but in the future I'd take a look at how you're interacting with people.

It's okay, really. Many people here just really dislike AI, and see it as low effort slop, which diminishes the human element that's important to the fediverse. I wouldn't take the downvotes personally, they're not really directed at you.

I think you should just post the comments you wrote, before having ChatGPT rewrite it! If you're really self conscious about your English you could put a disclaimer in your comment, but I don't think that's necessary.

You're getting a lot of good answers, but the most likely reason is just that your skin is dry. Try taking cooler showers, and put coconut oil or similar on your skin after the shower.

I recommend the series, I'm currently on the third, listening to the audiobook (I don't think there's any downside to listening over reading if the text is translated)

I watched the Netflix show too beforehand, but I don't remember it that well. I think it was pretty faithful to the book, although it definitely left some things out.
