I've heard people suggest, for years, that Americans abroad identify themselves as Canadians in areas that the US has actively fucked over... I think that advice would be even more useful these days

It's called a fascist dictatorship. I don't think people realize that we're deep in this now. It's no longer nascent, "Ur-Fascism" as Eco described. This is full-on.

It's terrifying how many people appear to not be aware that this is even happening.

To be completely honest, Herbert's Chani was pretty forgettable. Admittedly, it's been a very long time since I've read anything Dune, but I truly cannot remember anything memorable about Chani in the books...
