AI slop.

AI/tech bro hate bandwagon. All aboard.
It's a hot topic. If CEO/CTO didn't want to alienate users, they should've kept their mouths shut lmao.
Neither can you fuck anyone, yet here you are.
I dunno man, I'm in IT industry, and it's not looking pretty. Everyone around me uses AI to do their work for them, to review work for them, to write documentation, hell, some even use it to interact with other humans by letting AI write emails and even Teams messages. Fills me with dread and anger, it's antithetical to human spirit.
That is what I'm afraid of.
Rare reference. All matter must be converted into clips.
In my OP, I did not mean specifically some LLM, but a hypothetical, scalable-past-human-capabilities synthetic brain.
Today it is a statistical model
I would argue that a human brain is a statistical model. Complex, but in the end it's a black box that takes in input from senses, and spits out output in form of interaction with environment. I'm not saying we and LLMs are in any way alike, or that AI is alive. But I do not agree with postulation that a true artificial thinking machine is impossible to build within next 1B years or however long Earth stays habitable for complex life.
That's a sensible take. Perhaps not much will change after all. Humans were plagued with existentialism way before any thinking machines, and yet we just carried on.
I don't want AI bitches, I want hope and stability in an increasingly uncertain and chaotic world :(
Hedonism does not feel like a satisfying purpose. In that case, why not take it a couple steps further and get hooked to automatic feeding tubes and heroin for the rest of ones life.
Tough question. We definitely still seem to follow biological instincts, but birthrates keep falling. Some seek purpose in religion, but that is falling out of favor too. Some in their career, but if we assume "Human Zoo" scenario...
I sometimes visit TikTok like twice a year just to understand what type of media your average Joe/Jane consumes. My conclusion is that it's mindless and overly rapid content that does not sticks in the head. I could not recall anything I've consumed the day after.
But honestly it's not THAT different from watching TV/YT all night, or scrolling reddit/lemmy. I cannot recall what content I've consumed yesterday, maybe only small pieces here and there, despite watching "intelligent" content like documentaries & video essays or reading articles & news. To my brain it was simply entertainment just for that moment. A waste of my precious life.
We all consume, but few of us create.
