I think the idea is that, whilst shorting, you get squeezed. The question is not 'if' but 'when' and if it takes too long and you're $1B deep you can lose your shirt

I used to work with a pretty great coder.
Everything he's done in the last 6 months has been trash

Yeah I guess, but it's still annoying to have identically named tools that do the same job but aren't compatible. Or, like, base64 -d on macos can gobble the last char of output. So then you have to homebrew coreutils or something, but it just means that stuff that you feel should work compatibly out-of-the-box doesn't, and writing *nix scripts without perl is just a pita.
I forget what my point here is.
As long as you don't try to use sed or grep. Literally the only reason I learned perl was because of the flag incompatibilities between macos Unix and Linux utils.
It could just be that you're getting down votes because your tone makes you sound like an arsehole, rather than it being specific to the content of what you're saying 🤷
As a friend of both a Hungarian and a Slovakian (and also a few people from a few other niched European nations) I gotta say: nobody deserves to get fucking bombed just because their leaders are twats. Even if they voted for them. Although it's tempting sometimes to let yourself think it, innit.
Is this you, Ken M?
Oh man, when people at work do it... 'i asked claude and it said...'. never once has this been right, or even a fruitful avenue of enquiry.
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day...
It's been Labour policy for over a decade that Palestine should be recognised, but that was in conflict with a governmental position that only states that 'exist' in some stable sense could be recognised. The balance tipped, I guess, and now the former outweighs the latter. Don't think it's quite as suss as made out.
I think it's one of those things which technically enables some stuff (embassies or some shit? The reframing of Israel as literally invading another country, rather than committing sins against ppl whose homeland exists but doesn't exist?) but probably won't have much on an impact and is more designed to say 'hehm. Ackshually it is not totally super cool what you guys are doing'. But then we probably continue to sell them components and widgets that ultimately get used in war machines because dude have you seen the way predominantly-English-speaking nations act towards those that aren't? But like I think it as at least something, and will likely have implications of technical legality that make some enablement of Israel more difficult or even impossible as the new setting takes hold. Maybe.
Of course by that time...
But let's hold onto some tiny modicum of hope, because what else is there. Even a teaspoon of water in the desert is better than mouth of sand.
Huh. Never noticed the MLM parallels of the current AI hype so much before. Literally levenschtein distance of one, should've spotted it.
