Agreed, but they have some amazing hacks using older architectures. They do produce motherboards and other components though so it's still surprising they are using a dell.
I think this is mostly because movies are not really a shared experience any longer. The closest I've had recently to a cinema experience that you wouldn't be able to replicate at home was the end of Infinity War. Sure if you had a heap of friends over it might be close but the underlying feeling of dread, sadness, anger and confusion could be felt as you were leaving the cinema made it worth it imo.
I'm hoping Doomsday will be similar in the way it handles things but if it pulls another Force Awakens I'm gonna be annoyed.
YouTube is starting (already has really) to become an echo chamber catered to those with DMCA rights, and trolls pretending that they do. We need a P2P community run video platform, archive.org's torrent platform would be a decent backend but they are also starting to kneel to certain groups too.
Aussie here, I don't think that this is a bad move at all. The meta glasses are at a price point that makes them rarely seen in the wild, however Kmart (yes it still exists here, but different owners) has recently had a sale of $20 "recording glasses" that can easily have their recording LED turned off and with a few modifications you wouldn't even know they had a camera.
I can understand them doing this in government facilities, as some won't even allow you to have your phone in certain spaces.
I do think with tigher guardrails (detection of environments, like if a set of meta glasses enter a restroom or what looks like a restroom it should disable recording entirely.) it could be allowed but we really don't need to encourage kids that secret recordings are ok.
Politics is complicated (well it used to be) and in the before trump times it was also very boring. Mostly politicians would oversee programs for civil benefits. Instead we are seeing enough money flowing into elections that could purchase small nations and the focus is on whatever the corporations find important.
Now don't get me wrong, I do think that neither party is doing right by the citizens, but one is for educating and protecting it's citizens and the other literally closed the department of education.
I'm in Australia and it's just as messy here but our Trump looks like Ronald McDonald in drag. We also had a couple of leaders recently that were temu and aliexpress Trump respectively.
We don't need a world "reset" we just need to all start agreeing that rules exist for reasons, and while we will never get it right it doesn't mean we stop trying.
