It is particularly indicative that Ukrainians are buying non-official BYD cars. The brand has no representation, no distributor, no dealers

Nato is considering being “more aggressive” in responding to Russia’s cyber attacks, sabotage and airspace violations, according to the alliance’s most senior military officer.

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone told the Financial Times that the western military alliance was looking at stepping up its response to hybrid warfare from Moscow.

“We are studying everything . . . On cyber, we are kind of reactive. Being more aggressive or being proactive instead of reactive is something that we are thinking about,” said Dragone, who is chair of Nato’s military committee.

Europe has been hit by numerous hybrid war incidents — some attributed to Russia and others unclear — from the cutting of cables in the Baltic Sea to cyber attacks across the continent.

...

Dragone said that a “pre-emptive strike” could be considered a “defensive action”, but added: “It is further away from our normal way of thinking and behaviour.”

...

A Baltic diplomat said: “If all we do is continue being reactive, we just invite Russia to keep trying, keep hurting us. Especially when hybrid warfare is asymmetric — it costs them little, and us a lot. We need to try to be more inventive.”

For one month beginning on October 5, I ran an experiment: Every day, I asked ChatGPT 5 (more precisely, its "Extended Thinking" version) to find an error in "Today's featured article". In 28 of these 31 featured articles (90%), ChatGPT identified what I considered a valid error, often several. I have so far corrected 35 such errors.

This morning my son started his advent calendar.

My wife said to him, "it's too bad they don't make a Pew Pew Advent Calendar for your father!"

It is, indeed, too bad...

If there were such a thing, what games should there be in a Shmup advent calendar, keeping in mind that Advent calendars are not all winners? There should be a mix of old, new, mediocre, and good.

EDIT: fill out the anonymous survey

Four people have been arrested in South Korea for allegedly hacking over 120,000 video cameras in homes and businesses and using the footage to make sexually exploitative materials for an overseas website.

Police announced the arrests on Sunday, saying the accused exploited the Internet Protocol (IP) cameras' vulnerabilities, such as simple passwords.

A cheaper alternative to CCTV, IP cameras - otherwise known as home cameras - connect to a home internet network and are often installed for security or to monitor the safety of children and pets.

Locations of the hacked cameras reportedly included private homes, karaoke rooms, a Pilates studio and a gynaecologist's clinic.

Recently, the Lowy Institute, which is an independent Think Tank revised it's Asia Power Index. And after revision, it increased India's Ranking to No.3 and hence giving it the title 'Major Power'.

This Index ranks countries in 4 categories:-

Superpowers- As we know the big players, they shape the region with their decisions

Major Power- It strongly influences the region with it's capability and decisions, not as much as a superpower but still, comparable

Middle Power- They strongly influence the region around them but lag behind beyond it.

Minor Powers- They have very low influence even in their own region

The revised Index gave India the title of a major power which was previously owned by Japan, Russia climbed up a rank to become 5th overtaking Australia, Malaysia Overtook Thailand and got the 11th Rank.

In Indian context, I would even say that the timing of revision is really good because it hasn't been that long sich Indo-Pak Conflict has ended, in broader terms it still continues.

This Index shows that in a direct conflict and without Chinese support India does have a upper hand.

It shows that now India cannot be ignored or beliitled by China or US.

I feel India is on the right track, what do you think, feel free to give your opinion in comments.

The world’s biggest weapons-producing companies saw a 5.9% increase in revenue from sales of arms and military services last year as demand was fed by the wars in Ukraine and Gaza as well as countries’ rising military spending, according to a report released Monday.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, or SIPRI, said the revenues of the 100 largest arms makers grew to $679 billion in 2024, the highest figure it has recorded.

The bulk of the increase was down to companies based in Europe and the United States, but there were increases around the world — except in Asia and Oceania, where problems in the Chinese arms industry led to a slight fall.
