'You would never find a nicer, kinder person,' the father added about his son. 'He's a committed, conservative Christian, a tremendous father, a tremendous husband. I couldn't be more proud of him.'

"Nice" and "kind" seem mutually exclusive with "committed, conservative Christian"

You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." But I say to you, if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to her and shoot her in the face three times.

As a conservative Christian, I can tell you that white Jesus hates immigrants and loves justice. 🔫🔫🔫✝️✝️✝️

“Nice” and “kind” seem mutually exclusive with being an Exclusion and Removal ICE terrorist.

“Committed, conservative Christian” is supposed to welcome immigrants but who listens to that Jesus guy right? Certainly not Christians.

Love thy neighbor* (conditions apply)

[–] Sc00ter@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I drive by a non-catholic christian church every day that has a giant digital sign out front of their building. Its a picture of a lady in a hijab and says, "Love they neighbor. No exception." And id like to think that church has something figured out.

[–] ferrule@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 day ago

We have one like that too and I sometimes want to stop in and ask them about all the bible passages where their god says the oposite. Because there are far more passages saying to do bad shit than to do good.

Do these good churches igore these parts?

[–] northernlights@lemmy.today 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

To them it just means their neighbors should love them

"Respect me! I put my life on the line for you every day!"

Meanwhile, being a cop isn't even in the Top 10 of the most dangerous jobs. Some lists don't even put it in the top 20. I've had two jobs that are always in the Top 5, and I've never gone around demanding respect because I had a dangerous job. In fact, I never even thought about the dangers, and didn't know they were considered so dangerous until years later, and saw a list of dangerous jobs. Even if I knew, I would have kept doing the job.

But cops want to remind literally EVERYBODY, literally every moment of the day. Fucking cowards.

[–] northernlights@lemmy.today 6 points 2 days ago

right? "oooh our job is so hard, we get to drive cool vehicles, play with fun toys like guns and stuff, can get away with anything, if we screw up we get paid vacation, we're unionized and at the end we get a pension. We're total selfless heroes!"

[–] Greddan@feddit.org 9 points 2 days ago

Commited conservative Christians are supposed to follow orders from their cult leaders. That's all these sick cultists are for.

I have personally known abusers that are so charming and considerate and kind outside of the home that it makes the abused person question reality, and trying to talk about it to people they know feel impossible.

[–] eestileib@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 days ago

Yuuup. And often they are charming and loving to their spouse, 23.5 hours a day...

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 6 points 2 days ago

All of MAGA acts like an abused wife with long-term Stockholm Syndrome. They'll excuse anything.

“Nice” and “kind” seem mutually exclusive with “committed, conservative Christian”

and also with shooting a woman in the face for nudging you with her vehicle because you weren't following policy about not standing in front of vehicles while she was trying to turn around in an extremely stressful situation.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I got my mother to understand the situation when I aggressively asked her what she'd do if a bunch of people started running at her car, screaming and pointing guns at her, telling her she has two seconds to decide, so decide RIGHT NOW!

She said she'd try to stop for the police, but I kept pushing her hard, asked if she was sure she'd hit the brake, or if she might hit the gas, and lurch a bit, and she said that might happen, and I said "BANG! BANG! You just got shot in the face. Did you deserve it?"

She gets it now.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 8 points 1 day ago

Yeah, the shooter's phone video is available now and imo pretty much shows this. There's people walking around on all sides of her vehicle while she's trying to turn around. The shooter circled it completely. That kind of thing makes it really hard to keep track of where everyone is at. She also clearly doesn't point the wheels at him when she went forward but she did clip him (which if he was following policy wouldn't have happened). She fucked up but it wasn't a reason to shoot her. His actions are indefensible.

[–] biofaust@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

With Christian, really. If you need a white bearded man in the sky to scare you away from doing "what's wrong", then I will never be able to say if you are by any means nice or kind.

[–] sauerkrautsaul@lemmus.org 13 points 2 days ago

and murderer, but hey

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago

Conservatives Christian is someone who has reservations about Jesus's radical leftist ideas.

[–] Quetzalcutlass@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

No, no, you don't understand. They're "nice" and "kind" to their own ingroup. It's impossible for someone to be bad when they act good around us!
