Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
7) No Hit-and-Run questions.
Please don't delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It's not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it's not in the spirit of the community.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

DARK on Netflix.
It's not for everybody but I loved every second of it. In summary (without spoilers):
I tried watching it on two occasions, but I felt like I needed a spreadsheet in hand to keep track of things.
There is a supporting website: select the series and the episode you've just finished and it'll give you a family tree and a plot update.
https://dark.netflix.io/en
That's hilarious. Maybe a third attempt is in order.
I literally had a sheet of paper with me that I'd update as things were revealed, showing the relationships between people. It ended up looking like a conspiracy board. And for some people that probably sounds like homework, but for me it felt like I was exploring a ruin or something and was making a map of my discoveries. It made me more of a participant in the show, like I was actively watching for clues, rather than passively letting it wash over me.
It worked for me at the time.
Seriously. There are multiple times where just showing someone's face is a big reveal, but you're expected to keep track of multiple versions / ages of various people AND their family connection and I just could not keep up with remembering who was who. Everyone looks like the same so that doesn't help.
Took way too much scrolling to see Dark.
Dark is the Sistine Chapel of TV.
Great show!
How bad are we talking? Is it like kid abuse stuff? If so it's a pass.
It got one part where a kid is dead, then there's another part where a kid is about to be raped(unsuccessful, but still incredibly hard to watch), but overall it's just a really small part of it. It's a mindbending story that in some way really hard to wrap your head around.
Uh that does not sound like a good time
Oh, but it is. It really is.
One of the best time travel stories, I have seen. Also one of the best German language shows ever. There's a great website that helps you keep an overview over timelines, characters, and storylines.
Parent comment tried to avoid spoilers and you just came in like "Hold my beer".
It's very clear by episode 2 that this is a show about time travel. That's not really a major spoiler. It's a good reason to watch it.
Okay. I think I saw the first episode once so I would not know.
Yes, the first episode is about a missing person case.
Not really spoiler though.
