Now, increased demand for traditional fishmeal – which is made from small species caught in the open ocean – has sent the industry scrambling for alternatives.

The stuff being used to make fish feed is a byproduct of the poultry industry – it’s what is left over after the parts of the chicken consumed by humans and the remains used for cat and dog food have been removed.

Is that surprising? At all? It's literally in our nature.

I mean, no offense but I will continue to do what I can to be able to eat meat, it makes my life better.

I'm all for synthetic meats, or lab grown meats, as those become available. If there are more sustainable options, great. (As long as it tastes like meat)

The nature of humans is absolutely not to eat meat everyday.

If anything, it's much more natural for humans to go without meat, than to eat meat everyday.

Also cancer is rarely making your life better.

It is the nature of humans to crave meat, we enjoy it. That's the real issue. There is a very real quality of life benefit it provides to us. Maybe you don't need that, and if so, that's great for you. But because it really does make life better for so many people, you're not going to see the majority of humans giving up meat any time soon. That's the reality.

Nah dude, I love the taste of meat but I am 99% vegetarian since 2012 or so and we absolutely don't "crave" meat. That's a learned habit. Find enjoyable vegetarian meals and you will eat less and less meat.

Hey, I lived mostly vegetarian for several years as well, I get it. It's totally doable, you do sort of get used to it. But when I stopped cooking for vegetarians, I went back to eating meat, and it was a relief.

Not for the livestock, it wasn't. :p
