Pfft, IT people push to master 16:59 on a friday before logging off and laugh about it over pints

If you wanted the system up over weekends you'd pay us for weekends.
but also they actually don't -- especially for an internal system. How many of your colleagues are going to say "I couldn't work over the weekend because the XYZ wasn't up!"
Only the real sickos, and they should be ignored not celebrated.
Client-facing system, yeah I guess it's bad, but then I question what the customers are doing on their weekends
Plenty of reasonable online services that end-users will want to use on weekends, like online shopping, entertainment like streaming. Also payment services for businesses
And thus they should pay someone to work weekends.
Yeah but we don't talk about that until after we get the raise.
Except the guy that's on call that weekend. Fuck that particular guy.
