For example, I don't like Will Ferrell in his typical roles. Oh they just drive me batty.

But. I do love Stranger Than Fiction. It's such a cozy movie.

I can't stand Adam Sandler movies. Exceptions: The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates.

Or you just really like Drew Barrymore movies!

He did a good job in Uncut Gems too.

Whilst his acting is superb in that, I couldn't finish the movie because it made me feel viscerally uncomfortably. It's like a comedy character that has all comedy drained out, just a painful cringy cramp that won't go away.

Still props for the acting job.

I liked him a lot in "Spanglish" and "Reign Over Me."

I bought a lot of pudding.

This and Stranger than Fiction are my two go-to "dislike the actor except for in _____" movies. Tends to be comedians stepping out of their narrow role to do something serious and experimental.
Also you can't lose with Jon Brion composing.

I bet all those underscores are going to render weird.

That’s that. 📞

Such a strange little, uhm, love(?) story!

Uncut Gems was great. Hustle is good. Spaceman is weird as fuck, but in a compelling way.

Click is great if you can get over the toilet humour

And here is me that Adam Sandler movies are my guilty pleasure, as a manner of speak I guess (I don't hide it haha).

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

I think they're great but I've no need to convince anyone of that. They're mostly fun movies with a kind message in them.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 18 hours ago

I'm the same but different. The only one I really like is Billy Madison because it leaned hard into its own absurd premise, went to absurd extremes, and arguably created the prototype of the plot that every other Sandler movie would follow.
