For example, I don't like Will Ferrell in his typical roles. Oh they just drive me batty.

But. I do love Stranger Than Fiction. It's such a cozy movie.

Pretty tired of seeing Chris Pratt's face everywhere. His early career was great, but I find him obnoxious these days

Dude went full maga and now all I see is his horrible acting

hes also not a nice person irl too. he ranted about not being in leadership roles for different movies, im guessing because he so maga, he loves being masculine roles. Also his controversy with his wife/disabled kids, and a sick pet animal.

Jurassic World was the worst thing that happened to him. I'm sure he made bank on them, but Christ do they suck.

Perfect for parks and rec and guardians 1. Everything since then has just been typical Hollywood overuse. "People like him let's put him in everything!"

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 6 hours ago

hes also a right wing nuttie, which lowers his likability

Hollywood overuse. "People like him let's put him in everything!"

I mean, I blame the audience more than Hollywood, the same reason why we get a lot of reboots and sequels instead of new movies, or the same reason why Netflix account sharing killing strategy worked.

The dislike shouldn't be completely headed to the actor nor Hollywood.

Also you got me thinking, would people that didn't see him in the older stuff like those you mentioned and are tired of him will roll their eyes if they decide to watch them just now?

That man is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Can you elaborate? Not casting doubt, just admitting ignorance.

He's a Republican from WA who makes a very big deal about his Christian Faith.

He will "pray for you" if you "don't understand him", he teamed up with Marky Mark to ... promote Lent observance... he has ... either previously not been that much of a religious person but then had a literal Come to Jesus moment... or he's been pretty religious the whole time and was downplaying it in the earlier days of his career.

He also may or may not have been a congregant at the Hillsong church, which is pretty anti-LGBTQ.

Generally speaking, he comes across like you would expect someone to when they're from an abusive religious family:

He comes across as basically an insecure, nervous wreck who does not not know how to properly 'perform' Christianity for both his family and older friends, as well as the broader and more diverse world... so the result is basically an awkward or maybe 'quirky' kind of machismo.

Dude is your quintessential performative masculine dude bro, a meathead.

His wrestling coach asked him what he wished to do with his life, and Pratt recalled: “I was like, ‘I don’t know, but I know I’ll be famous and I know I’ll make a s- ton of money.’ I had no idea how. I’d done nothing proactive.”

He's Joe Rogan, but more Christian, more feckless.
