With more than 60 school shooting incidents reported in Florida alone since 2018, according to the K-12 School Shooting Database, educators and lawmakers have urgently sought innovative approaches to school safety.

No. No you haven't because every mindless idiot can fix this problem within a minute, had they have the interest to do so

BAN GUNS!

Aaaaaand problem solved.

[–] GlendatheGayWitch@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Right! In Florida, they don't have an excuse as many of them witness how quick and efficient it can be to pass through a security checkpoint with Disney World right there scanning thousands of people every day.

Ban the guns and put up a security point to make sure nothing is making its way onto campus.

You can't ban guns. The right to have firearms is literally in our constitution.

It says bear arms, not own them. It's all in the interpretation

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Also, it doesn't specify what sorts of arms. It also specifies it being as part of a well regulated militia...

[–] choochooMF@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago

All armed and trained civilians are part of a well regulated militia. Learn some history.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yes, as a part of a well regulated militia. How many of these gunmen were party to a well regulated militiia?

[–] choochooMF@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

By definition of a well regulated milita is armed and trained civilians. So technically, all of them?

You may be shocked to hear about amendments

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Amendments take 3/4s of the states to ratify them. that isn't going to happen. i doubt even 1/3 of blue states would ratify such an amendment.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So, you CAN ban guns! Whoda thunk

[–] TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

you can also build a space elevator.

good luck actually trying to do it.
