Lol the right has basically forgotten about him already

[–] okwhateverdude@lemmy.world 121 points 1 day ago (6 children)

Should have made it a fountain with the hole coming out of the neck

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 40 points 1 day ago

I'm pretty sure that's people's plan...

Instead, he said he has been inundated by messages from people saying they intend to urinate on the sculpture.

If you get the right angle, the splashback could be pretty realistic...

[–] e8d79@discuss.tchncs.de 22 points 1 day ago

Don't give him ideas, somebody might actually buy the Charlie Kirk fountain.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

The ultimate manneken piss

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

... Damn, if I had $100k to spare (and a drill) I might genuinely add that fountain to my yard.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The artist spent $100k, they thought it would sell for millions.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

oh I wasn't gonna pay this wankstain for that godawful sculpt, I was just gonna make my own. Maybe I could 3D print a little desktop one...

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago

A 9mm drillbit could turn it into a peephole

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 4 points 17 hours ago

This artists just needs to get good at marketing.

If he made it into a guerilla piece in some park and then "someone" shot it in the neck, pouring red paint on it, and then he "complained" about it to the press

....then it would be worth a lot

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's a decent likeness, but somehow not quite creepy enough.

I wouldn't pay money or travel to see it, but if I happened to walk by it and I was sure of not catching a charge, I'd probably be willing to stop and piss on it.

[–] Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

His weird body is the creepy part of this statue. It looks like his body is underwater and you’re viewing it from above the surface in the way that makes it look squashed.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Ah. I looked at the second picture in the article.

Torso is too short.

I'd still be willing to piss on it.

Edit: Looking at it again, I still think the creepiest part about it is it looks like Charlie Kirk.

Sergio Furnari, originally from Italy, had hoped the statue of the deceased far-right activist, which he intends to display in Times Square, would raise “millions” of dollars. Instead, he said he has been inundated by messages from people saying they intend to urinate on the sculpture.

To add injury to insult, Furnari recently broke his foot working on the statue, after tripping over a roll of tape in his studio.

“Is it cursed? Maybe. I don’t know,” he told the Guardian.

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 4 points 20 hours ago

If given the chance I would love to urinate on it

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 2 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

The amount of time it took me to realize that didn't say "Futanari"...

😐

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.dbzer0.com 59 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

The guardians out here doing their best to help a Kirk fan sell his shit

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago

Gotta find something to pad between articles from JK Rowling about how Dumbledore would happily murder Trans people and some Reform UK slimeball insisting Ukraine refugees were stealing all the NHS money.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 47 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Labeling fascist culture war ghouls "activists" may literally be correct but I refuse to consider them so. They are not activists as we colloquially consider them. They are agitators, stochastic terrorists and our media has been laundering their awful slop for far too long.

Have fun in hell Charlie you scumbag.

Charlie Kirk was an “activist” in the same way that Horst Wessel was an “activist” - which is to say that the regime picked him up as a mascot after he got ganked, so the regime could get some blood on their flag and say “look what they did to my boy 😭”.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 42 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Really takes off from the headline...

Sergio Furnari, originally from Italy, had hoped the statue of the deceased far-right activist, which he intends to display in Times Square, would raise “millions” of dollars. Instead, he said he has been inundated by messages from people saying they intend to urinate on the sculpture.

[–] Tm12@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 day ago

RIP Luis Jimenez, sculptor of “Blucifer”.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Instead, he said he has been inundated by messages from people saying they intend to urinate on the sculpture.

Stick it in a pay toilet and you can still make your money back.

[–] albbi@piefed.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Make a Trump statue as well and you'd have the start of a pay toilet sculpture garden. World's first!

But it comes with a free frogurt!

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 9 points 23 hours ago

Let's make a freedom statue for a fascist because why not?

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 4 points 19 hours ago

if it was a fountain someone would have bought it

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It looks like dogshit. And that's before you even consider the fact that it looks like Charlie Kirk.

It’s got the Ronaldo statue vibes.

[–] ryan213@lemmy.ca 5 points 22 hours ago

It's missing that neck...scratch.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

Maybe take the commission, THEN do the work next time. What a dumb ass.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What sculptor has $100,000 to piss away???

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 1 points 17 hours ago

If it included labour, all of them who want to make it

[–] regdog@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

*Man who created a cursed statue*: "This statue is definately not cursed"

[–] ClownStatue@piefed.social 1 points 18 hours ago

Wonderful likeness. I know I might seriously injure myself if I were to punch it in the face… But I still want to punch it in the face.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

I didn't like the guy okay. But honestly at this point some of the shit the right has done to him seems really disrespectful.

Like way beyond a leftist saying "charlie kirk was a racist, misogynistic grifter"

Like what they do is well beyond discussing traits.

It's almost like they taxidermy-ed him (or whatever the word is) to roll him around to sell cheap shit to people who never knew who he was until he died.

This statue. His wife's behavior. The "pregnancy" . TPU

It's all so deranged.

I don't agree with his profession but let's be a little honest. It was a grift. He likely didn't believe half the shit he said. But that's all he will ever be known for.

Kinda sad.

But also this "artist" sounds like a grifter themselves. Just thought they could do a cash grab.

"I wasn’t a fan of Charlie,” he said. “Like one thing that I couldn’t stand about him while he was alive [was] when he was talking about Palestine. [Kirk would say]: ‘Oh no, Palestine doesn’t exist.’ I thought: ‘Well, this guy must be out of his mind.’”

[–] glasratz@feddit.org 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He likely didn’t believe half the shit he said. But that’s all he will ever be known for.

You really underestimate fascists, don't you?

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Well I mean , that's how most people in my circle remember him.

The 30% of magas definitely think of him as prophet or something.

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think he was a harmful hatemongerer and I am glad he is dead.

But I agree about how off-putting it is for so many people to continue profiting off his death. They are scavengers milking a corpse for all they can. It's not about respecting the person he was, it's about shamelessly exploiting him for their own gain.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah maybe "disrespectful" wasn't quite what I meant. Your description is more with how I was thinking.

The pure greed. Using a man's death for personal gain at that scale.

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

This totally reads like an Onion article too.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

He'd have been in the money if he'd just cranked that shit out a few months earlier.

His mistake was trying to make something that looked good, rather than churning slop you could push on a bunch of dipshits with more money than sense.

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Bro is cashing in a little too late on a man who's been dead for almost a year. He should have taken a lesson from Erika Kirk on how quickly to get on the grift train.

Sorry Mr. Futanari, you missed out.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Ehh. You know, that because of this article, some trump peon will hear about this, and actually pay the guy for the statue with public money, right?

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What would I do with an extra $100,000? I am sure I can come up with all sorts of ideas.

[–] Art3mis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Easy. Bottom surgery and rent for a year and a motorcycle

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

That seems like a reasonable one. I would probably put nearly all of it towards my housing so that I can clear my mortgage debt more quickly. Maybe set aside a portion to pay off credit cards.
