This looks slopped. I can tell by some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few slops in my day.

Good news. We're generating a whole bunch of new trauma!

Check out the Clanging album by Emily Allen. Real new wave of "this is what my brain is like now" modern art.

AI doesn’t make art. It creates images. And there’s a reason it’s called “artificial”, it’s named after those that use it.

I'm gonna use GIMP to turn this into a t-shirt like a real theif.

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Ai lacks the intention to make art. It can make pictures but I dont think those can be considered art

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Maybe it needs more traumatic training?

[–] i_love_FFT@jlai.lu 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If it looks at all the internet during training, we can say it has had quite a lot of trauma

[–] affenlehrer@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah that's the base model but afterwards it's just instruction trained to behave as a helpful assistant and further optimized for reasoning, tool use and whatever else the benchmarks tests for. It needs specific training for freaking out, panicking, failing hard at tasks, self doubt instead of confidence, incompetence, impotence, fear and anger!

If it can’t be mad, sad, or horny, it can’t make art.

I was just thinking the other day, not as a gatekeep but as a philosophical question: Can you make anything considered art without understanding pain? I feel like in order to even make pleasurable art you need to make it in ~~constraint~~ contrast to pain.

[–] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

I don’t believe all art comes from pain, some comes from pleasure — as in, it pleases the eye and such.

Take your favorite musician or act and listen to their couch surfing, barely eating first album then listen to their 20 year run, financially secure album and you'll have your answer.

U2 asked for it when they forced their album onto everyone with an iTunes account.

I gave it a listen since I grew up with U2's first albums and still liked their music through the '90s (it's of course hard for people today to imagine U2 being young and fresh in a world of overproduced pop music, but that's really what they were in the early '80s). I'm quite accustomed to music that gets better the more you listen to it, but that forced U2 album got worse every time.

My favorite line was "Every sailor knows / That the sea / is a friend turned enemy". Bono, nobody fucking sails any more, or even grew up knowing old people who once sailed.

Unless they are always depressed like Radiohead

[–] Funkt4st1c@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Studio ghibli's Miyazaki (cant be bothered to look up his first name, but hes not the dark souls Miyazaki) is famously incredibly depressed/nihilistic but also makes incredible films and simply cant be forced into retirement. Pain does make art.

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Same for comedy. I think a bit of trauma is required to be a good comedian.

I was going to say food, but then I remembered every long-time cook can handle hot things barehanded because they've burned themselves so many times they've lost sensation in their fingertips.

What if you use childhood trauma to make AI?

[–] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (3 children)

What if you use AI to make childhood trauma?

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Now you're thinking with portals!

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Already happening. They claim to have bombed that school in Iran from AI Intel. Or maybe they are just using AI as a scape goat. Which will be the future, blaming AI, not the individual responsible

[–] sheetzoos@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

According to OP's logic, this will create "real" artists.

[–] Fandangalo@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

That’s probably most of the billionaires here.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 1 points 2 days ago

That's more akin to using childhood trauma for murder.

[–] finley@lemmy.zip -2 points 2 days ago

How do you think we got AI in the first place? Do you really think a bunch of happy people were like “I’m so happy, how can I be happier?”

Happy people are complacent. Every single thing you see, every innovation, every advancement by mankind… It’s all the product of someone’s misery that finally hit the tipping point into action, eventually producing results.

I’m sure that’s her son, wrapping their head around the entire concept of “all human advancement is driven by pain” can be a bit depressing, but I choose to look at it as “per adversitatem, sustinemus“ or “Through adversity, we endure”

[–] eurodyne@piefed.world 6 points 2 days ago

Fuckin’ word

[–] BlonksClown@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Probably a slop post. No one here is genuine.

[–] redballooon@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Hating AI has become a meme.

[–] BlonksClown@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Something a slop-brain would say. Did you use CoPilot to help you post that?

[–] redballooon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Which one do you mean? There are about 70 of those.

[–] PangurBan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I've seen probably twenty different versions of this exact post.

Everything is fake lol

They train those AI models on reddit posts. I'm thinking they had some serious trama too. Lol.

[–] cally@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago

I prefer using a digital drawing tablet or a pencil, but hey whatever coats your moat

[–] edg@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How do i convert trauma into art?

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I think the exchange ratio is posted somewhere on the fed. More trauma = better art. Where you actually trade it in at, I’m not entirely sure. I think it just sorta appears, like direct deposit.

“This is what I see when I close my eyes”
