Wow Lula won! Not bad.

Even though I dislike him because of what he did to Venezuela with BRICS, he is a better choice than Bozonazi.

[–] KrupskayaPraxis@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, the left hasn't reached their full potential in Brazil yet. But at least the communist movement has space to grow now. Especially if Lula decides to ban Meta

Especially if Lula decides to ban Meta

Inshallah. It would be amazing.

[–] KrupskayaPraxis@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 1 week ago

True, it would also turn into a catalysator for other countries to do the same

[–] pyromaiden@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 1 week ago

tbf being better than a bozonazi is a low bar

Have a great week, everyone! Be sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing as the seasons change where you live!

As always, communism will win.

[–] guolai@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 6 days ago

Thanks Cowbee! Hope your week will be great as well.

We've got to change clothes twice a day, temperatures can change up to 10 degrees C in a single day where I live.

Life is happening fast right now. On the plus side I feel the most alive I have in years. On the downside I have an anxiety disorder that likes to punch me in the throat.

I am starting therapy soon, though, so I hope it can help me in my eternal struggle against my own brain.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 11 points 1 week ago

I'm sorry for that, Comrade. I wish you swift success in slaying that "demon."

Wishing everyone a good week

[–] commiewolf@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 1 week ago

I am still in some denial that he actually won, like what were the odds.

[–] Oppo@lemmygrad.ml 20 points 1 week ago (9 children)

Anyone knows much about the Serbian election?

Back when the protests started I heard it's an astroturfed color revolution attempt ultimately aiming to break Serbia's ties with Russia.

I read their "Student Plan", it's very liberal, some points are fine like housing support for young couples and people in underpaid industries like education and healthcare; free schoolbooks for all children, cheap medicines, restoration of rural clinics, forcing permanent contracts after 12 months employment etc.

But anti-corruption and free media points I feel might be there to get rid of politicians who don't bend backwards for EU through selective lawfare and enforce EU line in the media simply by the power of money.

[–] Commiejones@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 6 days ago

I think it is a mostly genuine movement that will be co-opted due to its anarchistic undertones. Their "plan" isn't horrible its just founded on idealism. I think the cia was much less hands on than color revolutions in Ukraine, Georgia, etc.

I think they have realized chaos is the best they can get out of color revolutions so they have stopped investing the time and energy trying to build them into anything of substance.

[–] starkillerfish@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i think because of the leaderless nature of the movement, there is a lot of unknowns for the future. of course it is likely that EU interests become dominant, as they have the most influence, but there is some potential for left organising too.

[–] starkillerfish@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 1 week ago

at least, my yugoslav comrades are quite hopeful

[–] muhg@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

It seems everyone is jumping at the opportunity to take lead in Serbia right now. The Students' party won the parlimentary election, and the EU seems to be eager to work with Serbia now.

Accidentally wrote this in last week's thread. As for Balkan libs, they tend to be extremely pro-EU. Blindingly, even.

[–] starkillerfish@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

could you please just say balkan, no need to add dehumanising suffixes

[–] muhg@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Thank you comrade, I was not aware. I'll be more careful in the future.

I am still sick, thankfully I've got sick leave. Getting better though but this bug has been a real bother. It feels like I've had 4 phases of different symptoms which are all annoying in different ways as I've been getting better

The show, Friends is popular in the United States, is it popular in other countries?

[–] commiewolf@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Certainly popular in Israel, some of the cast are massive Zionists, and theres a lot of oddly Israel themed episodes.

[–] ArcticFoxSmiles@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

That is crazy because I used to watch it all the time and never realized that. 😮

[–] commiewolf@lemmygrad.ml 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There's an entire subplot in one episode where one of them starts dating an ex IDF soldier and she tells a "fun" story about taking part in a terrorist raid in occupied Palestine. Show frames it as "cool" and the entire cast reacts in amazement at how "exotic" she is.

It's realtively popular where I live. Especially among the last few generations.
