Not my instance (I'm posting from PieFed lol), but I noticed that lemmy.blahaj.zone has five UIs, including mlmym, set up.
Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !uspolitics@lemmy.world
7) No Hit-and-Run questions.
Please don't delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It's not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it's not in the spirit of the community.
8) No Bots.
Posts or comments from bots, LLM's, AIs, Neural Networks, Transformers, or Marvin the Paranoid Android are not welcome in AskLemmy. Real humans only please.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

It's been pretty stable over at old.lemmy.zip!
Glad its been stable! We use our own custom fork with loads of enhancements for stability :D
my instance doesn't and it makes me sad
my main is on db0 and I want them to set it up so bad 😭😭
We used to run mlmym but it was starting to cause issues when it became unmaintained.
Dang, but I get it. Its probably the same issue lemmy world is having with it now. I am trying out alexandrite, see if that will be my new home UI
I don't think that they have to run it locally, as long as you're willing to run it yourself.
The alternate UIs, as I understand it, don't normally rely on privileged access to the instance. They just use the public API. They're basically just a Web-based client.

Yeah, looks like you set the LEMMY_DOMAIN environment variable to the instance in question and spin up a Docker container. If you can handle Docker, you should be good.
EDIT: I understand that there are some unmaintained mlmym forks, so if you do want to run it locally, I'd maybe check with an admin of an instance that runs it to see what fork to use.
MrKaplan forked it for Lemmy World -- https://github.com/Fedihosting-Foundation-Forks/mlmym
I tried taking a stab at adding some fixes to that version, but didn't get very far. I've got some notes about issues I was looking at posted in the tracker there though if anyone wants to pick it up again.
Some of those issues have already been fixed in my fork of mlmym :)
- federated
image_proxyimage posts - AVIF images
The others haven't, unfortunately. In regards to the paginating issue on comments, I've already made improvements to that, but the underlying issue is due to the way lemmy's comments API works and not easily fixable without introducing a lot more API requests per page view (see #36).
Great! Any chance you can upstream the fixes to the GitHub version? If not, I'll try to take a look later in the week and see if I can pull those bits back out myself.
I have suggested that they pull my changes to their version, but they are understandably very busy and didn't have the time to review it, so that unfortunately didn't happen. Many instances have simply switched the version they are running instead.
see if I can pull those bits back out myself.
Might as well just use my version directly :)
It also comes with a bunch of other improvements, bug fixes, and a few new features.
I was thinking of spinning up just a vanity instance for me, if I do that I might try to get that UI working. But also I am lazy and have a WIP list a mile long so who knows if this will actually become reality.
Lemmy.today runs it at https://old.lemmy.today/
I do kind of wish that there were a standard way for instances to advertise alternate Web UIs and their location.
Mine does on tor only.
Finally someone hosting Lemmy over Tor! I need to know more
I don't know the details, buy I think it's only the UI that's on tor. Federation still happens over the regular internet, but that shouldn't matter much to you as a user.
Fine by me! I don't think there are many other places on Lemmy accessible specifically through the Tor network anyway, so it's to be expected.
Lemmy.nz has it too, at https://old.lemmy.nz/
It's worth noting the original is unmaintained so not all instances will be the same. Lemmy.world maintains their own fork: https://github.com/Fedihosting-Foundation-Forks/mlmym
We've got it over here on reddthat.
Oh how cute I wonder if it works with piefed
Lemmy.ca
I prefer alexandrite so I set my preference a long time ago and therefore may be wrong, but I think lemmy.blahaj.zone has it
Yeah what's up with it being down all the time? Is it only the old UI or is it the entire instance?
its just the old UI, if you remove old. and go straight to lemmy.world the instance is fine.
