That's really out of my budget. I want a phone with graphene, but I can't take out a mortgage for it.

Get a used pixel 9a for 1/7 the cost, or a new pixel 10a for around 1/4 of the cost
It's an option I'll seriously consider when it's time to change my device, but I'd also prefer a device where I don't have to manually change the operating system. I'm neither that much of an expert nor do I have time to spare.
It is honestly pretty painless - unlock boot loader, attach device, give appropriate petmission on phone, run install from browser, verify install, lock boot loader.
That said, a dedicated Grapheme device is so exciting. I am not going to spend ~2k on it tho
Get a load of Mr. Moneybags over here, having enough equity that he could mortgage something...
Fuckin' ouch. I don't know if I can justify this 😂
I can't wait until the whole backside is cameras!
I want a new 5.5" smartphone with graphene OS that costs $200 or less. I don't want tablet sized phones and I don't want expensive thousand dollar phones. All I care about is that the phone can make phone calls and respects my privacy.
True hardware costs in 2026 without residuals from advertisers
So it's going to fail and they're going to blame Graphene
Looks like it
At least the rumors that it'd be a foldable seem to be wrong.
It's also initially launching with android 17. The article said that Graphene won't be ready for it until some time next year. I wonder if the devs are deliberately putting some separation between the hardware launch and OS availability so that they can avoid getting caught up in Motorola's corporate panic attack when this thing doesn't sell.
that cost more than my car lmfao pass
can't wait to see this thing flop and sell 99% android only to rich fucks who don't care, and then Motorola say "oops look like Graphene sucks, ending partnership bye"
Motherfuckers. I would have paid 1k - but that is ridiculous
I have a pixel 10 with 16gb RAM. Nothing has made changing realistic and likely wont for awhile. I hate AI and only wantgOS and a decent camera.
Yah... Thats too much, if they cut that in half I would ignore it not being up to the repairability standards of fairphone, but if I cant expect that device to last 10 years then ill just wait for the next one...
Who are the customers for such a ridiculous thing?
This is the normal cost of a new phone no? If I were buying an Iphone or a samsung i'd expect to pay around the same price.
Drug lords
Glad I bought a pixel 10 pro XL about a month ago.... Seems like I can hold it out as long as possible hopefully... Hopefully this will bite motarola and show this is stupidity.
Oh my damn. I expected something expensive, but this is just way above what I expected.
The Graphene developers did say that future plans could entail even broader Motorola support from GrapheneOS, for cheaper models too. Let's hope this will be the case…
Jesus fucking Christ is it made of gold??
Personally, I already balked at the size of the screen (~6.8"). The ridiculous price is just the final nail in the coffin.
Mini tablets were 7 inches.
It's ridiculous; how am I meant to fit something half the size of my dick in my pocket?
How am I meant to fit something seven times the size of my dick in my pocket?
Wait, is this really the size of a nexus 7?
phones have a different aspect ratio than tablets plus the nexus 7 had giant bezels
Fair point on the bezels.
Not paying more than €700 for anything with a bump that big.
A phone that is >10mm thick in 2026 for €1400-1900? No SD card slot? No 3.5mm port?
Fuck off ahaha, what are we even paying for?!
welp refurbished pixel it is then
Some serious piss taking here.
Why are they taking my piss… :( what are they gonna use my piss for :((((
